Using that analogy North wouldn't have even been pulled over because of the cars that police allow to do slightly over the speed limit due to technical issues.
They'd be too busy chasing Norwood anyway, the drunk driver doing 200km/h! ;)
Not quite right. The drunk driver doesnt own up that he/she's drunk.
Doing 200km/h sober I'll accept. :)

If the owner of the car is questioned about it he soon tells the cops it was the previous owner, and a lot of drunk drivers do fess up when they're caught, I know my old man did when he was .284 after crashing into 2 parked cars!

Was that before or after he fell out of the car!! :D :D

Any truth to the story Damon White rejected a contract offer from Port Power because he had more on offer from North Adelaide?

The figure quoted to me for White's salary package would make even Ian Callinan cry poor.

If true of course. :D

Defintaely not for those reasons, the way he was treated there probably more to do with it.
Having said that we could blow the Power out of the water when it comes to finances.

Nope.

It was all down to money and North were paying him more.

Nup, definately not that, the Power would have to offer him money they dont have to even get close to swaying him.
Talk to him about his time at the Power and you'll understand where I'm coming from.
Plus the poor bugger only got paid $4,738 from us, what did the Power offer him? Rights to picking up cans for an afternoon at Alberton?
Love of the jumper and all that sort of stuff too. ;)

Not his fault he wasn't quite up to it. Plus he was there during the time we had a very sound half-forward line. Not every bloke on an AFL list plays alot of footy.

Yawn. Back on topic for just a moment.

Can someone refresh my memory regarding Norwood's salary cap breach? IIRC wasn't it to do with Steven Doyle's incorrect accreditation level and the payments that flowed from that?

Seems like double standards to me, Norwood get hit with a big stick and the Roosters get the feather duster applied. Maybe Glenn Elliott isn't as on the nose with the SANFL as everyone is saying he is?

Its the rules mate, if you exceed it by less than 5k its just a dollar for dollar fine as it allows for "technical" or "unforeseen" circs, like about 5 clubs have been done for.
I think Norwood exceed the cap by over 30k so were nowhere near this buffer zone hence the differing punishments.
Bit like that nice police officer I drove past today who didn't pull me over for slightly exceeding the speed limit but if I was doing more then 30km/h over the speed limit Im sure he would have! ;)

Just getting this straight, so North are now in the same boat as Centrals, the Eagles, South and West in only 'technically' paying more than the cap?

If you've got a link to those rules I'd love to see it. You've obviously seen them, so at what level above the cap do the extra sanctions get applied?

Hence my point earlier. Whats to stop clubs from going just over the cap when the punishment is just pocket change?

When the SANFL imposed the salary cap on the SAAFL because we had finally affilliated after almost 100 years of going alone, John Condon gave a info night to all club Secretarys & F/Ball Directors.

From the beginning we were hoodwinked when we were told all coaches that we pay could not total more than 10K. This was not the story we were originally told by the SANFL as the 10k would be for A Grade coaches only. After we had joined they moved the goal posts.

When john Condon was questioned on this. He advised that there were ways around the cap.
NOT BAD FOR THE GUY WHO WAS POLICING THE CAP

NO COUNTRY OR SAAFL CLUB HAS BEEN DONE FOR RORTING THE SYSTEM.

HE MUST HAVE TAUGHT NORTH HOW TO DO IT BUT THEY STUFFED UP THEMSELVES.

I thought Norwood's problem was that they "forgot" to include ANY of Doyles salary against a coaching position?

I wouldn't include South in the 'technical' category, theirs was a far less benign effort.

No problem, they can go into the 'real cheats' pile, the others are just 'technical cheats' if I'm reading some North fans on here correctly.
