Cant see Gary McIntosh actually taking the job if offered at South Adelaide, his coaching style is way to rough for the board of the club to handle and it would be the same scenario outplayed as Jack Cahill once again. South Adelaide will only appoint a puppet coach that will take their directions on how to coach from the ex players of the club involved in its administration....

Port Adelaide's off field ($$) has improved and the junior program (Centre of Excellence) is bearing fruit, with 80% of the Reserves and 1/3 of the League side having come through it.

And on junior programs, I notice the North Adelaide U18s got pumped by about 20+ goals for the 3rd week in a row.

Fair enough, no problems with that but I spoke with Matty Richardson last week, haven't seen him for 6 months and the lines in the brow have become deep furrows, too young at 37 to have them and something has caused it.
What would you suggest the reason might be? Please don't say it's a family trait because his mum,dad and brother are fine.

No one ever said it was easy. But he's one of the best in the business, and I say we're lucky to have him at the Magpies.

He was a terrific cricket coach as well.... He puts in alot of time and effort into the footy club, and we are lucky to have him.

Seems the club has sent out a spy to 3 other SANFL clubs to check out thier training. And the word is that the Maggies training is nowhere near where it should be. Hopefully Timmy Chinever rectifies this as a start to some better results.

I can vouch for that. I was at Alberton for a meeting a few weeks ago and decided to watch the Magpies train for awhile. It was without doubt some of the most lack lustre training I can recall seeing.

what is different between last years training (where they made finals) & this years ? or is it more to do with the lack of quality players ?

Interesting article in the Portside Messenger.

In Round 9 last year Port were 2-7 and made the way to finals action, albeit brief.

At 1-5 currently with Central, West,Glenelg and Norwood to come it is conceivable we could once more be 2-7 or 3-6. With the comp as even as it was last year.....never know.

I think we were playing better footy last year and were unlucky to lose some of those 7 (Maybe 3 by under a goal or something like that), this year we havent really been good enough to win any of those 5 games we have lost.
In a competition that is pretty even you never know. If they can win enough games and scrape in and start playing better footy anything can happen.
