I can't fathom how any Eagles supporters would say the umpiring went both ways today. I don't recall seeing one North goal from a free quick which resulted in a set shot at goal but I can count at least 3 for the Eagles. Watch the replay for those Eagles supporters who still have their rose coloured glasses on. I suppose I should accept that the umpiring is going to be crap but unlike last week when they were crap both ways, today they umpired only for the home team.

Maybe the SANFL directed the umpires today as they obviously want the "huge masses" (note sarcasm  ) that follow the Eagles to bump up the League coffers in at least 2 finals games? I would imagine the only time the Eagles fams out number the opposition at their home ground is when they play South or West and even that would be line ball.

Ahh yah big red and white sook, how things change from the last game against North when the Eagle supporters were correctly jumped on for having a whinge about the umpiring.
North went missing in the third quarter ( like you stated), thats what cost the game

Yep - I am "sooking" about the umpiring because it was terrible and yes, as you agreed with me our third quarter cost us the game.

Sooking or not, it means you are passionate for your club; you feel great after a win, but crap after a loss. The SANFL does not have enough of these people to warrant its' prestige sadly.

Agreed spelly - in reflection you always feel like "sh*t" when you lose a close one - especially after looking good for 3 of the 4 quarters but the umpring just plain makes me angry and I would have felt exactly the same if we had won in the end - that wouldn't have glossed it over.

I'm now getting annoyed and depressed thinking about the loss in terms of the double chance which with one slip up is gone and playing in the Elimination Final this year as far as North goes is unacceptable given the squad we have.

We can easily lose a game too, even with umpiring help! :)

No offence mate, but I think Kenny McGregor more than covered for Grocke and Kenny would be a slightly better player in most people's books Im sure?

Very different style of CHF .Grocke plays the more Fergus Watts type of CHF .Kenny is different and is a great pack marker of the ball and would have him in front of the likes of Perrie .
The EAGLEs today lacked the forward who goes up the ground and brings the ball into the fifty .This is the style of game Grocke has been playing this year.

Dude, you can't compare Grocke to McGregor and for you to suggest you actually lost something today by having McGregor at CHF instead of Grocke is laughable to say the least (and Im friends with Adams family). If Im wrong them Im sure Adam will end up playing a lot more AFL games than Ken.

Funny things umpires if they could actually see they would have noticed that lots of Norths players fell forward when going for the ball and hence won free kicks .Now I did notice that inkster did the same thing when going for a mark and was gifted a free kick .

And what about holding the ball some were very fast calls and some like the north player getting grabbed by passador and lomas goaling were play on, when it should have been a holding the ball decision.

But like has been mentioned the umpiring did not cause the bad kicking by both teams!!

Go you eagles !!!!!!

Is that the last quarter one? If so, I thought it was Fairclough who goaled?

MickyJ, just remember when assessing umpires take note of how many goals are scored as a direct result of a poor umpiring decision as that stat is much more important than who got how many free kicks.
Im doing a study of the game between posts and it'll be interesting to see how many goals were as a result of umpiring influence and/or poor umpiring decisoins, stay tuned.

No but I have watched every eagle game except the night game at elizabeth due to illness.
What I have seen is the EAGLES having 3 big men up forward .When they have lost in the past with Kenny and Ben both could or appeared not to gel .With kenny at CHB they played better than today, mind you the other macca is great down back.
Now it could be they don't gel or the EAGLES don't bring the ball in correctly.
As I stated earlier Adam is playing this year more like Fergus Watts compared to the way Adam played last year.
And I was more than happy with Ken up forwad today he worked great took fantastic marks and kicked good goals. But then Ben struggled and was replaced at FF by Passador who then had the ball delivered better to him by the players up the field.

Does that make sense ?

Well I think that Passador is a better leading forward than a contested forward - Schwarze is better at that - and McGregor kicked a couple of good passes to him today.

Plays like Fergus Watts eh? So he plays one good game then goes missing never to be seen of again? I think Grocke has been okay for the Eagles personally.
