I don't know but I'm not sure 14 games in 5 years on an AFL list is a great advertisement for him though.

Bit like Irra for Norwood? How many AFL games did he play ?

At the moment it is only early November and it seems clubs are really active with early recruits this year.
To me more so than other years.
It would appear the smart recruiters will steal a march on the slow.
It shows how important the spending of restricted salary caps.

Clearly not up to your lofty standards when it comes to ex AFL recruits, but we have to work within a budget and a salary cap.

Gozu is a very fair poster so I’m sure he was giving a balanced opinion rather than a dig

clanger wrote:South Adelaide are excited to welcome James Rose for the 2020 season.
The former Sydney Swan lands at the Panthers following 5 seasons in the red and white after making his AFL debut in 2015.

Taken at pick 37 of the 2014 AFL Draft, Rose went on to play 14 AFL games after playing at Sturt as a junior.

The smooth mover kicked 22 goals from 13 NEAFL matches in 2018 and was at his best in the 2018 NEAFL Grand Final collecting 38 disposals and a goal.

"We're really excited to welcome James to the club, he'll be a great addition to the team" said Senior Coach Jarrad Wright

"As a player James will add some top end class to our midfield, he has elite speed and decision making and knows where the goals are."

"He will complement our already tough working midfield nicely"

"As a person his core values fit in with what are building here at South, and James will be a very good fit."

When speaking on making the move to the Panthers, Rose felt that South Adelaide was the right fit.

"I came back to Adelaide with an open mind, and after meeting with Jarrad and Neill I sparked a connection with Boof quite quickly as our values aligned"

"I'm bloody excited to contribute and looking at the list there are some fantastic leaders in Cross and Rose."

"The list is maturing at the right time and it's shaping up to be an exciting year, and I'm really keen to contribute."

We welcome James to South Adelaide and are excited to see him in action in 2020.

James Rose Playing record

Drafted - Pick 37, 2014 AFL Draft
Team - Sydney Swans
Games - 14 (AFL)
Goals - 7

If I was the Crows I would be picking him up, even as a Rookie. What happens if O'Brien gets injured, they have nobody there to replace him.

South supporters would love to see him playing for the SANFL Crows against them!!

So you think the crows will draft a guy who is undersized for an Afl Ruckman, almost 30 yo, and has been delisted twice by AFL clubs..??

No, I actually rate him and he is the best ruckmen going around in the SANFL, Crows have no back up to ROB and he would be perfect.

I wouldnt worry too much, its early days... there will be plenty of "afl not quites" clinging to some last vestige of an afl career, only to have their hopes and dreams brutally crushed on draft day. There will be plenty of opportunities for sanfl and vfl clubs to scoop them up ,give them a shoulder to cry on , give them some false hope, promising them the world.................

It's great to have signed Rose and Brooksby (although I haven't seen anything official from SAFC regarding the latter) but I am a bit concerned signing them before the drafts. Have they agreed to not nominate for the drafts? I would hate to go through the same scenario as last off season and of course mid-season.

Any word on Matt Rose and Malcolm Karpany?
