West started way further back, had nowhere near the resources or player stocks.

It's a kick in the guts for the 6 clubs who finished below West that they got that far with one KPP, no leg speed, ultra defensive game style, no regular AFL listed players and barely any new recruits. FFS, they brought Brad Moran back from retirement!!

I'll happily knock the Collins game plan, but you cant knock what he has done to Westies on field fortunes. Off field fortunes and other issues are likely to cloud what Collins did for a club that was an on field basket case.

And he forked money out of his own pocket to recruit Travis Tuck...

Rehn's final year was 2005. We had 2 years of Weidemann in 2006 & 2007, Collins began in 2008. Those 4 years saw 4 wooden spoons

So he took over a club that had won 3 wooden spoons. Jars took over a club that had won 1 and took them to 4th.

Not arguing that he turned them around, but many other clubs have proven it can be done quicker.

Id argue he has had significant resources, and thats part of the reason for their off field mess...

Collins did just about everything he could short of landing the ultimate prize.

The reservation is around whether or not the club backed him to the hilt, to the detriment of the overall financial position of the club which is delicate at best.

More to the point the person who replaces him is going to have a tough time maintaining West let alone improving their list.

One of the first objective posts on the subject from an opposition supporter that I have read on this site. When I listen to Collins, he always seems quite forthright in his opinions which is refreshing. I would have thought South would do well in snaring him, and with their superior finances give him a few more options.

I don't know, no amount was mentioned. Andy himself said this on AA Sunday night after the game...

I think he paid the transfer fee from Werribee, but not sure of the actual $ amount...

Thats correct, $25,000 I think it was. Also sold some Hawks memorabilia from his premiership years to help the club.

I don't think any West Adelaide supporters have said that, unless Wedgie has heard it from the West supporters who tell him they won't watch Westies play because of the way Collins coaches!

Yes, serious. Paid the transfer fee. Lots of crap written about him but most untrue. Few people with big mouths start crap and then the sheep follow and it snowballs from there.

Dont think he is walking away, reckon it was a mutual decision. Has taken the group as far as he can after 6 years. Coaches dont seem to last that long at clubs theses days.

This year we got two recruits, one was paid by Collins (Tuck) and the other was paid for by members/supporters (Mangan). When you consider the players that left at the end of lastr season Fisher x2, Caruso x2, Willets plus a couple of others, he has done a good job.
