About 5 seconds to go
NA lead by a point
NW with their last foray into attack
Langford passes to Georgiou
Georgiou marks, on TV it appears between wing and half forward [about 55m out ???]
Sensing whatever Georgiou plays on
He almost eludes the man on the mark Alleway, and gets marginally past him
He is tackled from behind by Alleway
The tackle almost certainly appears to be around Georgious ankle
Georgiou is subsequently tripped and falls to the ground
Georgiou then handpasses the ball
Approximately 2 seconds later the siren sounds

QUESTION
Im not sure what the rules are on tripping these days
Should Georgiou been awarded a free kick ?
Is there a penalty for deliberate OR unintentional tripping ?[I reckons it was unintentional]
Whats the verdict ?

I reckons it should have been a free kick at least

Was right infront of us, the tackle slipped down his legs and probably technically was a trip but he would have had a free kick outside 50 with seconds remaining. The ump was blind side and wouldnt have seen it. Dont think it would have mattered anyway

Love the way George plays, but he would have been no chance of scoring from there.

Must only be a deliberate trip, seen several similar incidents and havnt seen 25m awarded this year. The way we kicked for goal it would have gone out on the full anyway.
We couldnt get the job done, end of story

A 25m use to be paid but not now. I think if it was intentional it also use to be reportable.

And I know you want more ...

Georgiou plays on
The umpire has not called play on when he is impeded
I know its a 50m penalty in the AFL
Is it the same in the SANFL ?

It sounds like the umpire called play on after the trip was executed
At about the time Georgiou handballed is when I heard the ump call play on , on the TV

Whats the verdict on this one ?

the verdict is, he was tackled without the play on call from the umpire so therefore it shouldve been a 25m penalty and the umpires cost norwood the win :D

BUT he might have kicked into the man on the mark, kicked it out on the full or dropped dead, so we'll never know.
