Awesome. Imagine how many will go when they earn the right to play on Anzac Day. More to these two games than port v Norwood.

Are you trying to say Glenelg should play Sturt every ANZAC Day!

If modern-day minnows of the comp like Norwood want to play on Anzac Day maybe they should organise an internal trial!

Perhaps Foxtel could schedule a game at 10:30 AM on Anzac day for those unpatriotic swill who don't want to watch the march. Then the Norwood fans simply have to convince their club to accept the invitation from Foxtel next year. Port fans need not exert themselves, since their club already sees the value of playing in front of empty stadia for a plastic cup which otherwise serves to impede their chances of impressing in the domestic competition...

Hate to say it but agree with most of the Centrals mob on here. Lets face it we have been mediocre for too long now and currently dont deserve to play on ANZAC Day. Thankfully things look like they are on the way up so hopefully we go on with the job this year and earn a match on ANZAC Day next year.

Considering the Parade is near the city and neutrals normally go to the Friday night games there, I would have thought 5021 was a little disappointing. Only a 1000 more than ANZAC day which was played out of the city, with 2 teams that have no where near the following of Norwood or North.

I guess it's Glenelg v Sturt for ANZAC day each year now!

To have nearly 11k going to SANFL Friday night footy, esp with a half decent AFL game live on TV, is a great result IMO. When was the last time 11k went to 2 games on the same day? Phil H?

Agreed, and now the bays have lights I would have thought their home game average crowd might be up on previous recent years?
Given also the evenness of the comp, hopefully we'll see crowd numbers continue to grow this year, year on year.

I was a tad disappointed at the turn out last night, thought we would have got another 1,000 at least.
If the weather is good id expect at least 7k for the visit of the Tiges on Friday night

I completely agree, just having a dig at certain Norwood supporters who keep telling us how well supported they are. Obviously it was the North supporters that didn't show up last night.

I think most SANFL supporters will agree that because of the expanded AFL/VFL, SANFL attendances will only get worse once all of us baby boomers die off who will attend the SANFL we now have a generation who all they know is AFL/VFL football that is the million dollar ?? who will follow local footy in the future we can argue all we want amongst ourselves about crowd numbers etc but really this situation will not change one iota.

Went away for a laptop free long weekend and came back to find you are STILL arguing about this.

Glenelg's home crowds are up nicely about 1,500 per game based on last years TOTAL average.

and Norwood would need to draw 8,330 v Glenelg this Friday Night to draw level on home match crowds after 3 games each.

Redlegs had the best home crowds last two years, Glenelg the two before that, with lights at the Bay and both in good from they are 1-2 with daylight 3rd..

Last round was actually the best so far this season with 3 crowds above 4k, total 16,500

I think last years Eagles v Sturt and Norwood v Glenelg Friday Night double also drew 10-11K for the evening
(even though 70% were at the Parade).
