Thunder aren't thinking about that. Just taking it one week at a time.

Thunder have enjoyed a "Collingwood like" draw over the past couple of years to spread the travel load amongst all teams. I reckon they travelled to Brisbane/Gold Coast only 4 or 5 times in the minor round this year. The remainder of their games are split between Darwin & Alice. Mind you, playing a "home game" at Alice Springs still involves air travel, so maybe not Collingwood-esque after all.

I believe they also received a concession of an additional bench player, which they tended to use on a 16 or 17 yo kid (or did last year).

So not quite an even playing field, but it works for NEAFL. Reckon it has buckleys in the SANFL. Whispers abounded at the NEAFL GF in Brisbane of a 10 year plan to join the AFL. NFI who was doing the whispering though!

One great thing about Thunder is their sponsor - Rio Tinto. AFL clubs would be more than happy with this type of support.

One would hope that there was no chance of NT receiving an extra bench player if they played in the SANFL

I see Stuey Totham has resigned from NT Thunder to take up other employment opportunities.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Thunder played 9 in Darwin, 4 in Alice and 6 interstate. I'm sure the Thunder will happily play an even number home and away if they joined the sanfl. I'm sure they would be happy to have 3 on the bench also. Although I could see the sanfl adding an extra interchange player if NT joined the comp.
