The Power wanted to turn the Magpies into a reserves team so they could control listed players rather than learn to cooperate with the SANFL clubs.
The Crows made it clear they are happy to cooperate with the rest of SA football rather than be selfish, but won't condone the Power manipulating the situation to gain an advantage over the Crows.

The only words I have heard/ read from either the Power or Magpies is that it is an off-field, business deal. So it is you and others of your ilk that are talking about Port Adelaide Reserves sides.

Irrespective, the AFC are playing against 15 other clubs, so they should be looking to get a competitive advantage over ALL sides, not just Port Adelaide.

Port tried it on then dropped it when in met opposition a few months ago so now it's not their stated position.
But who trusts them..

Here's an easy fix that really helps the SANFL (Which is my only and total concern)

Let them both have a reserve side, but it plays as part of the VFL as the other clubs do travelling every second week with the A side. I couldn't give a rats about how the AFL sides or the AFL proper finance this it's their problem.

SANFL then has an 8 team competition (Minus the Magpies) and we get back to normal play each other 3 times in a season with no byes.

1 game at Home, 1 Away and 1 at Neutral SANFL League headquarters or, were-ever the SANFL Finals will be played in that year to take into account the eventual switch to Adelaide Oval, that way no team is disadvantaged, and we never again have to concern ourselves with disruptive AFL players dropping back into our respective SANFL sides.

I'm not sure that would be the problem GWW, although it may mean a few SANFL players would be paid less as 100% of a team list would have to fit in the salary cap, no use of "free" AFL listed players. However, if this were the case Port's salary cap proposition may be more suitable (i.e local players with 100 games only applying to half the salary cap). The only problem I would envisage is the cost of running a "legitimate" reserves side. Demetriou, I believe stated previously neither AFL team can afford a reserves team.
