I am not happy to buy the "we've got lots of injuries" line. We rely on our AFL players and our ex-AFL players too heavily. When our depth gets tested we are shown to be well off the pace. Our top 5 or 6 players are outstanding and yet we are not in a position to capitalize on this because our gamestyle doesn't encourage our other players to develop as well rounded players. A team with Morris, Ferguson, Piasante,Willits, Ezard, Birss & Fisher as recruits should be able to supply enough local talent to be a force. The lack of development of the next tier has been the dissapointing aspect over the last few years.

Care to guess which sides have used the most players this year? Injuries might mean a lack of class, or perhaps you start to lack strikepower, experience, size or something. But unless I'm mistaken it's been discipline and effort that West fans are asking about. Something all league footballers should have, regardless of experience, skill or size.

Well, now my guess is Centrals. Got any stats on players used or players having played 10+ for the year?

Does not seem to be the case anymore....

No doubt some of these calls for the coaches head will be louder this week, yet the only way he may be going is the way Neil Craig did and falling on his own sword as his contract is supposed to be for next season as well as this one.

Considering his wife and family still live in Melbourne and he was rumoured at the start of the season to have job offers in vic, he may well do that?

I reckon there are some similarities between Collins and Craig. The list not improving, gameplan is suspect & unpopular with many supporters, had more than enough time to put their stamp on the club. Not sure the push will be strong enough to end Collins' contract early but that is probably only because of the difference between AFL and SANFL.

The game plan worked well in two games at Prospect this year, ST.

After the second win, even North supporters said we were the best team they've played this year.

Eight changes the next week saw the start of a bad slide and a total loss of confidence. Looking at the players who came in yesterday and were obviously underdone - Piasente, Hartlett, Ben Fisher, etc, - shows what we've been missing.

That said, we've put in some really poor efforts in recent weeks and the mental strength of some had to be questioned.

Yesterday's game? Our skill level was way below Norths and was embarrassing at times. Our game plan gave us 8 more inside 50's, but North killed us on our turnovers. I would have been confident before the game if I knew that North's tall forwards would be held to only one goal, that Fielke would shut down Bennett, that Fisher would kick 5 and Webb 3, (and Jimmy Allan wouldn't get a touch), but that would have ignored our deplorable skill level and too many players hardly touching the footy.

North had some really good players and I thought Thiele and Armstrong were outstanding, amongst several other good players.

Oh, I've thought that Richard Williams has been umpiring pretty well for a fair while now, but I think his 'non-call' on Motlop holding-the-ball in front of the stand was hilarious :D

Most football followers would have understood that without me having to say it, TSG.

Just for you, though, our lack of discipline continues to hurt us ;)
