Where is Marcus from PH?

I'll answer for PhilH, not sure if he has seen the question.

Marcus has been working at 5AA as a news reader the last 12 months, prior to that he was a journo for Sportal and a few years ago he was the editor of the SANFL Footy Budget.

why wasn't there a sunday game today ? given the fact port didn't start until late afternoon our time....

also see if he can put our (sanfl followers) mind at ease with the recent 'media attack' regarding crows/port having reserves teams etc etc

thankyou

I'd like this matter to be put to Darren for a response, please.

Squawk wrote:SA plays Vic Country this Saturday from 1.00pm at Adelaide Oval.

Such a pity that this game couldn't be played on Sunday given 8 SANFL sides are playing on Saturday and there is no AFL in Adelaide this weekend either.

WTF is going on with scheduling here?

They could have scheduled some SANFL games on Sunday (bar the ABC game), and the u/18s match on the Saturday as a curtain raiser there to an ABC game.

eg Saturday -
11.30am - SA U/18s vs Vic Country u/18s (Adelaide Oval - curtain raiser)
2.00pm - Sturt vs West (Adelaide Oval) - ABC televised game
3.45pm - Foxtel Cup, Port vs North (schedule at AAMI given no AFL Football there this week).

Sunday
Norwood vs South (Coopers)
Central v Glenelg (Elizabeth)

This Sunday schedule would have given the Bays and Norwood an extra day off after playing on Monday of this week, and given amateur league players and supporters a chance to attend a SANFL game. It also means more fans could have been drawn to Adelaide Oval to watch the State u/18s on the previous day.

Also, Darren's views on the send off rule as it stands and Nathan Bassett's call for a review of the rule, including possible video review during the game?

Thirdly, with SANFL season tickets now compulsorily incorporating the pre-purchase of tickets to AFL games - how many of these AFL tickets (in percentage terms) were taken up by SANFL season ticket holders last year? Why must SANFL fans be required to pay for such tickets? It has added $30 or so to the cost of a season ticket and I for one, dont want these tickets.

I'd be interested in hearing Chandler's responses to questions raised in my mind through Andy Collins' interview
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 6077701514

"Among Collins' other concerns is that the football community is becoming too AFL-centric, rather than looking at the sport as a whole.

He also had some concerns about state leagues losing their part in the think tank, not being part of discussions about rule changes and the future of the game. Collins also found it had been a one-sided debate over having reserves sides in the competition.

"Right now, the AFL are becoming the custodians of the whole game. But I haven't heard them talk about a national reserves competition. Why? Because it's not a good business model," he said. "I'm not hearing any push for a national reserves competition. If they're really fair dinkum about it, that's where they should be heading. But it costs too much."

Plus from me - If the AFL isn't talking about it, Why is Rucci? and therefore, Why Can't the SANFL shut him up about Crows/Power Reserves teams if it's something that the AFL isn't talking about?

If Foxtel Cup is NOT played next year, will State Footy be re-instated?

If the Foxtel Cup is to continue on, (I'm sure I heard that either the AFL or Foxtel had committed to 5 years), will the SANFL look to modify its fixture list (As the WAFL seemed to do by starting earlier this year), to assist the competing clubs?
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

If it is played next season why can't we have a State Game? Western Australia played Queensland on the weekend defeating the Maroons by 6 points. This was the narrowest margin between the 2 States in their history of clashes.

Is a 10th team in the SANFL, still in the back of the league's mind at all?

Will the SANFL give in to the AFL and Crows and Power and implement them a reserves team in the SANFL?

I can't recall either afl team say they want a reserves team. Maybe the question should be, "will the sanfl give into rucci and implement them a reserves side?"
