Congrats to the AFL - clearly Elizabeth would have been cut up significantly had the matches been played last night with all this rain we have had.

Unless Boyd was telling porkies - his "broken leg" cant be that bad as he said he had already resumed training and felt he could have played this weekend. Maybe a stress fracture though which may still need a few weeks rest.

Just a quick question on this weather crap, if the bureau of meteorology can't predict the weather properly, how do you expect the AFL to be able to?
Should we scrap the weather channel on Fox and the weather presenters on the news and just get all of our weather predictions from the AFL? Best to err on the side of caution rather the see players go down with knee injuries when it's too late to change the venue.

Even if the forecast was correct Voice - we would have got 5-10mm of rain to an area suffering from drought conditions!!
I'm sorry to harp on - but this was the AFL sending a reminder to the SANFL that ultimately they control us and will undermine us, as and when they see fit.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

They did err on the side of caution. Thats why we played the game on the friday night for them.

They had a 48 hour 16 email argument as to whether the game started at 4:30 as originally announced or 4:00.

AFL couldnt organise a fevola in a brothel

What a crap post, stay asleep giant.
I read it. Unfortunately couldn't make the game so appreciated the detail and effort BP went to. As Big Phil said if you don't want to read it, don't, it's easy to skip it. Thanks BP much appreciated.

Not that I cared where the trial game was last night as I was never going, but I think it just adds to the preciousness of the AFL - they cancelled a game in Melbourne today due to weather. That's just embarrassing - it's only hail, played in that many times as a kid and adult. Pansies.

The irony was the cancelled game was originally meant to be played on the Gold Coast but was moved to Melbourne because of Queensland's torrential rain during the week - yet there was fine weather on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

Nothing to do with the AFL smac. The coaches called it off. And it wasn't any old storm.

Boyd does talk a mountain of sh1t for a molehill of a person (and character). In the media, he has now punched our 6 differant versions of why he left South, none really making any sense; when the facts are the Club was extatic to let him or (or simply would not have released him from his contract). In saying all that, I would not wish a season ending broken leg on anyone - hope it is not true.

Quality comment there. Wonder how you'd go if other supporters 'smiled smugly' at the news of Boyd's injury?

Can someone please change the record. It is becoming rather tiresome.

The weather's really bad in Melbourne this evening - the NAB Cup semi nearly got abandoned (part of Etihad's roof - the concourse area where Livewire is - collapsed due to the hail/ice). The game ended up delayed by half an hour with the crowd restricted to Level 1 and no power to the City side of the ground bar the stadium lights. Southern Cross Station's roof has collapsed too (the station is now closed) and trams are stuck in floodwaters! Melbourne's CBD resembles Venice and is in chaos ATM!

The AFL can't take a trick with the weather atm - they shift Centrals v Eagles and Brisbane v Geelong due to forecast bad weather - it's drizzles here while a hailstorm engulfs Melbourne!
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

I guess I shouldn't expect intelligence or sportsmanship from someone who quotes a flat out racist in their signature.

Enjoy your season, hope you don't get to celebrate too many football injuries through the year.

(I hope Boyd's leg recovers quickly for what it's worth. Norwood are a better chance of continuing their winning streak against Centrals with him in the team.)
