As I suspected, it's arrogant bell end all the way.

"It would be a blight on the SANFL if we let just a good side win a SANFL premiership...."

Seriously? Give me a break. Some of you blokes have had it far too good for far too long.

Well, nothing wrong with that. I would think Centrals have a right to think of ourselves as a great side at the moment, given the past decade and the fact we're a chance to win a third straight premiership. So, logically, it's going to take a great side to beat us. Are Sturt and Glenelg great sides? We're about to find out.

I wouldn't bother with him as he has nothing good to say about any other club - in fact he is just antagonistic and condensending about all other SANFL clubs. He is is the biggest non "expert" on all things sanfl, he has no memory of anything prior to 2000 and if you ask him, any inovation from any club or supporter group is a rip off / copy of all things football as Centrals and their supporters invented everything! Arrogant is a good word to describe him and he certainly is a lot older than mid to late 20's.

Seriously?

As pointed out by some Dogs supporters on here though, I'm confident we'll find equivalent bell ends on SFC fansites going on about how we're the be all and end all of the league, Chambers is God and Central are just lucky or cheats...

... blah blah blah ... whine whine whine.

The key mate is to sift through the chaff to find the real intelligent commentary. We have it on here in the main, we have the odd spazz who deserves a clip around the ears, but in the main we get some good comments and amusing banter!

I tend to find REAL Doggies fans are complimentary of Glenelg and Sturt and understand and rate the threat those two sides are to Centrals premiership plans. Even Roy Laird has commented to friends of mine that Sturt are a danger team for the Dogs.

Based on the Captains logic dogwatcher, if Sturt or Glenelg win the flag it will only be because Central "let just a good side" do so....

So which is it?

A good side is one that defeats a not on song Central District. We need to be on song if we are to win the flag.
A great side will beat us when we were on song. Ie: when Sturt won its last flag.
There's a compliment for you.

However, I don't crave compliments, or even respect from opposition supporters.
So, I don't go searching their web sites for comments.

Guess what I'm craving? Another flag.

Me too Dogwatcher - If we can win 8 flags in 10 years then I think that we can justify calling our team "great".

I have always thought that the only difference between being arrogant and self-confident is that a self-confident person backs up their statement with action while an arrogant person cannot!

I think cutting and pasting from a club forum onto a general forum is unfair

You are allowed to talk yourself up amongst fellow supporters and there's no need to go making friendly comments about other clubs in case their supporters come in and visit
In between signatures .....

To suggest I am craving compliments or respect from an opposition club forum by searching their websites is drawing a long bow don't you think? As I have already pointed out I was after a perspective on the game from a Central supporters point of view. I got that in the main.

Glad I brought this one up

Yep - well, you knew what you'd find when you went to an opposing club's forum. And that's what you found. What a surprise.

I regularly post on this site and the doggies site. I usually use a different approach on each because there is a different audience. On the doggies site there are a few mates and a few one-eyed fanatical supporters who don't seem to know much about the game but support the club and help us to stay viable. I suppose you could say the same for all other clubs - certainly Sturt because I have looked there this week.

I like posting on this site because there are quite a few knowledgable supporters from other clubs and some of the debates have been most interesting. There are a few fanatics who are fun to stir up too. Which one are you?

I'd like to think I fit in the 'knowlegable supporter' bracket mate but that is possibly up for debate.

Just on the CHAMBERS issue... word is he's not 100% out at this stage, but is having a fitness test on Saturday...

I think what Sturt fans have to realise is that with Chambers out of the team our chances of becoming premiers takes a beating. I don't think winning on Sunday is out of the question if he were not to play, but I'd have to seriously doubt our chances of being able to overturn things against Glenelg and then whoever after that. One off and two off wins are possible, but you'd think at some point you'll get caught out when your dead-eye dick forward is not on the pitch.

For Centrals fans its just a matter of not letting your own joy and confidence get into your team. Any complacency from Centrals because of Chambers possibly being out could come back to punish them.

That said, from a neutrals perspective, Chambers being out hurts the pleasure one would get from the game. I know myself, I'd prefer to beat the Doggies with the Gowans in, not out. Winning with them out makes it a tad hollow, likewise I think Centrals fans would get more pleasure knocking off a full strength Sturt side, means the win is more conclusive, no excuses sorta thing. Regardless, Sturt looks like having a decent team on the pitch and we should be confident we can do the job.

I, for one, never expected to beat Centrals, Glenelg and whoever else simply because Chambers kicked 8 goals. I expected to win those games because people like Gum, Sheedy, Crane, Payne etc ran riot...

If they still do that, then we're still a chance.

... lets face it, against Glenelg, Chambers has struggled because of a lack of delivery, the team needs to get over that hurdle first before even worrying about whether we can kick a winning score.

Finally though, I'm ready to take to the field if they need a passionate, tho poorly skilled goal square bound forward!
