Anyone with over 200 AFL games must have some sort of idea of how to coach footy. You never know he may be able to bring back the redleg glory days of the late 19th century! :D

I would think Norwood would just be a stepping stone until he can get involved in the AFL.

Everyone will have their own opinions mate, but I reckon it's a very good fit ... He's already been involved with the revamped junior program and many of those kids will underpin the next generation of the club.

Personally Im very happy with the decision.

Yeah fair enough i was just throwing that idea out there,

Interestingly enough the last 3 SANFL premiership coaches, Roy Laird, Ron Fuller and Brenton Phillips have all seemed to only be interested in coaching at SANFL level.

IMHO not to many recent coaches with AFL backgrounds have been overly successful

There's a fella called Mark Mickan who might have a slim chance of doing just that. ;)

Not to mention the 5 premierships we won between 1975 and 1997 when Central were still trying to work out what they were doing. Central fans .. a few good seasons and they think they're experts

Yes Mark Mikan turned Glenelg from a basket case into....well maybe premiers this year.

I think Bass will think outside the square and straighten us up....not handball happy.
He has my total support and best wishes.

Can't wait to see The Hound's first dummy spit in the coach's box.

It will be intersting to see whether this will be a 3-4 year thing or will he jump the second an AFL position of any sort opens up.

From an outsiders point view, Norwood looks like it is a 3-4 year job for a coach, especially considering they have the recruiting ban, Massie has retired, won't see as much of Walker next year, and a few other league players such as Weatherald and Doyle won't be around for much longer due to retirement.

If he only intends to hang around for 1 year maybe 2 it probably won't do Norwood a wealth of good IMHO.

Can't disagree with any of that mate, but I think you'll find he sticks it out for 3 years.

It will be great if he does because he seems very passionate about his Redlegs, and Friday night crowds at the parade are awesome when the legs are up and running, which would be great for the SANFL.

He will coach his 3 years.
Norwood are not as long term as most outsiders believe, the list is good but has lacked leadership and game plan for 4 years. The signs were starting to show through late last year when Cotts took over. Several player miraculously returned to form...if you get my drift....and young players were finally promoted on merit and performed well.
Bass is a good football brain and wont take any shit ! Perform or move on.

An interesting appointment, obviously very passionate Norwood man is Bass and that has to be a good thing, on the flip side he is essentially untried and is that what is required at this stage for the Legs?
Like Dogwatcher i wonder what sort of dummy spits he will be able to come up with in the confines of the coaches box....nothing like a good case of whiteline fever...which seems so far removed from what he is (or was) like away from the field, I wish him all the best for the next stage of his career...just not against the Eagles!
Trust the process.
