Why bring a flag, with the union jack on one side and the st george cross on the other? Whats the history behind it?
It may have something to do with the Dogs' fore fathers but I thought we were in Australia and this game is Australian.
Is that the reason for the flares? This aint the EPL...

1. The tool did try and have another crack at Gowans. I don't know whether you call that bravery or stupidity - maybe bravely stupid.
2. The tool also broke free from a Wereslow. In the end I think the cops had better success bundling him over the fence.

Someone on the hill was asked that question and they said cos its red, white and blue. Mmmm yeah, but so is the Aussie flag and you don't see that amongst CD fans. Give em enough rope...

No, but the asthmatic can choose to avoid them and not have them forced on them unexpectedly. Being forced to overuse Ventolin can be fatal.CENTURION wrote:Psyber wrote:Pseudo wrote:At the risk of sounding out of place - are the flares really a problem? I think it adds a bit of colour; is a signal from the Dogs fans that they are claiming victory, not unlike JB rousing the Snouts into a rendition of "A Tiger For Me" when the game is won. Thus far nobody has lost an eye, so all is well...
It may not be good for any asthmatics in the crowd nearby.
Neither are jet engines, car engines, factory emmissions, cow farts, rotting garbage, over-spray from nearby Ventolins blah, blah, blah.

There's no club directive in regard to the Union Jacks at games etc, it's just a fan thing.
Why do people get upset by this?

The Bulldog has always been our emblem. But this is historically linked with the Footscray Football Club in the then VFL. That is also where our colours came from. In fact, Footscray Football Club was the first patron of CDFC. There are heaps of sporting clubs throughout the world who have the Bulldog emblem. The old Canterbury/Bankstown League team, South Fremantle, Georgia Tech , Georgetown and Mississippi State in the USA all have the Bulldog as their emblem. And to the best of my knowledge I don't think they have ever seen a St. George flag (red and white) waved at their games. Like I said before we CDFC not England.
