I honestly though it was a MEDIA mistake this morning when I opened the paper to read that Dogs co-skipper Paul Thomas had copped a 1 game suspension for a rediculous head butting charge. I just thought the journo typed it wrong but then I read the closing statement about the Club being furious about it, so I knew it was FACT...
I don't need to go...

In one of the Advertiser football liftouts last week, the reporter had Mark Ricciuto playing for Waikerie against Hahndorf, not Renmark.

Pretty short for basketballers.
I can't believe they made this mistake four times
Can you believe Jimmy - that 10 years ago I made a similar mistake in a newspaper I was working for at the time. And it was picked up by Boti Nagy and reported as a bit of a clanger in his column (causing me some professional anguish).
And you're right - it is a bit of a clanger.
Guess who wrote the article that you are referring to?
Ahhh- thanks for pointing it out to me Jimmy, it provided me with a few laughs.
I might even write a letter to the editor pointing it out

They are called sub editors.
Sub editors are usually experienced staff that have worked as journos elsewhere or have been trained in their role.
They are not work experience kids or inexperienced youngsters.
Big Phil, as I've said before though, mistakes do happen in every job.
I can also tell you that once that mistake has been pointed out to the relevant person, they will be deeply embarrassed.

Advertiser wrote:Sturt has its first bye for the season this weekend while the following weekend is free of SANFL action because of the state clash between South Adelaide and Victoria at Adelaide Oval. The bye is timely given Sturt was well prepared for the trials in March followed by eight weeks of action.

CDFC's own Robert Laidlaw dropped a (rare) clanger of his own in his weekly match report for cdfc.com.au. He mentioned Alan Hayes as being one of CD's better players. That should be Andrew hayes.

Same thing this week - West/South crowd was the same as the West/Central crowd (at least in country edition).
And they have the Eagles on 6 points with a 4-4 record.
Plus many times the country scores are just completely non-sensical.

Blame the people who send them in then.
Very hard to read the writing on those score sheets a lot of the time.
