I can't fathom how any Eagles supporters would say the umpiring went both ways today. I don't recall seeing one North goal from a free quick which resulted in a set shot at goal but I can count at least 3 for the Eagles. Watch the replay for those Eagles supporters who still have their rose coloured glasses on. I suppose I should accept that the umpiring is going to be crap but unlike last week when they were crap both ways, today they umpired only for the home team.

Maybe the SANFL directed the umpires today as they obviously want the "huge masses" (note sarcasm  ) that follow the Eagles to bump up the League coffers in at least 2 finals games? I would imagine the only time the Eagles fams out number the opposition at their home ground is when they play South or West and even that would be line ball.

Ahh yah big red and white sook , how things change from the last game against North when the Eagle supporters were correctly jumped on for having a whinge about the umpiring.
North went missing in the third quarter ( like you stated), thats what cost the game
If at first you don't succeed , then destroy all evidence that you tried in the first place

So frees are one sided because a few were paid in the scoring area? I have a view that you shouldn't need to rely on umpiring help for a win, and that I don't blame umpires for a loss. North kicked 7 behinds in a row, from 8.7 to 8.14, I'd look at that first.

And talking about home crowds and such, I don't see what that has to do with anything here, surely for moneys sake it would be the other way around? ;) And you forgot Glenelg fans in that analogy, I thought North fans have a view that they don't travel? :)

Yep, Glenelg fans don't travel whereas the Eagles just don't have many fans.

Well I'm not sure you need to repeat as if it's an insult, cause we already know that, and admit it quite freely. ;) And I'm not sure why some are concerned with other clubs supporter base size, the thing that should be of most importance is how you team performs.

1 was actually an AFL umpire!! (Michael Avon).

Just goes to show the incredbily shallow talant pool of field umpires in this state at the moment. Its one area the Vics have left us for dead for quite a while, the SANFL and their umpiring division really do need to do something about it as its pathetic at the moment.

The number of free kicks each side does not have any relevance to whether one side has a rough deal or not. Side A could get 100 free kicks in a game that were all blantantly there and side B could get 10 frees that were all obviously not there. Side A is hard done by in this situation.

Having said that, whilst the umpiring was very poor the third term cost North today. Had we shown a little more character all the free kicks in the world wouldn't have made a difference as we would have won and won comfortably.

I certainly agree there. We played better last week, and this week was lucky in that respect, but when we are on the end of a loss like that, I know that you don't get any points for a loss that should have been a win, and it sucks. :)

Apologies Tassie. I was making a generalisation and it was more having a go at Eagles supporters than the Bays. I should be surprised a Bays fan is on and Eagles v North thread but i'm not  :wink

spell_check i'd like to respond to this but i fear it would be seen as sour grapes given the loss. Eagles won, North lost that is a fact.

That explains the frequent trips to the dunny. A pint of Southawk on top of an empty stomach.

Always the same. You need to eat something solid, something like a donut would do, before taking the ale, just to help soak it up.
