Name one thing he has done to contribute to improving football in South Australia? Forcing players to volunteer at a church doesn't count by the way.

Without him coming over 6 years ago I doubt we would be around. We couldn't win a game. Now we have played finals the past two seasons.

Easy to be critical when he is not at your club. He was here for the club not for the SANFL. Our membership and attendences were up for this year.

I could easily ask what Franco has done for the SANFL?

Got a club playing football that people want too watch. Might not win a premiership either, but at least his team will give it a crack. Attendences up for West? From which year? You were getting 5-6000 at Richmond under lights. What was your biggest attendance at Richmond this year?

P.S. Read the forums. If West had made the GF this year, it would have been the smallest crowd on record. No one wanted too watch West. Would rather pull my finger nails out.

Andrew Jarman never had a plan B, and neither did Collins.

How do West supporters feel? You spent a bucket load of money on this guy, and you were embarrassed in a GF and a Prelim too show for it.

Have to agree Sleepy.
And the icing on the cake was his pathetic rant about a Norwood player.
Should of spent more time working on his team selection and gameplan than slagging off at a player and trying to turn the umps attention towards said player. Then after being thrashed he was too gutless to face the media and instead sent a lackey. Any coincidence Wests discipline has also been quite poor in Collins tenure?

He was here to improve West Adelaide which he did. Didn't win a premiership with that style but got two consecutive top three spots

And if you believe what everyone writes in forums then the SANFL is dead from next year

Agree, his comment after the Eagles final about Georgiou wasn't his finest moment, as a west supporter would have much preferred he kept that to himself and the club. However, Collins has been the best thing that could have happened when it was on its knees after Weidemann had left. Was he perfect, no, he wasnt, but he took this club as far as he could have.

Im interested, does that make Bassett gutless after he refused to speak to ABC's coverage the week after the rumble in the tunnel?

Don't think he is leaving the SANFL anyway. Said from the start he will be at the Bay. Only spanner will be Richmond or South throwing more money at him

The game's in enough trouble as it is with the Presiden'ts vote this year, keep this person who brings the game into disrepute (IMHO) around that drives people away from the games and we might as well as just close shop. Hopefully no other clubs are stupid enough to do it.

In 2007 (the last year before he rocked up) West Adelaide scored 1486 points (and incidentally finished last on 2:18). This year they scored 1682 in the minor round. The job of a coach is to get the W:L ratio as high as possible and to go as far into September/October as possible. Compared with most 6-year tenures of a coach after entering a club that's won the last 3 wooden spoons, his would have to be classed a success. Sure, it's the right time for him & the playing group to move on, but it'd be a stretch to say that any club in wooden spoon territory would say to itself, 'sure, Collins may well take us from last to a 2nd or 3rd style position where we could challenge for a flag... but would he do it in an attractive enough way?' If he wants a coaching job in the SANFL, I'd expect that he'll likely get one.

No doubt Collins took over a basket case, so deserves credit for turning it around.

Also, if he was coaching a bunch of scrubbers and had to resort to that style to win, then he would have done admirably.

But IMO West have had the best all-round list the last two years. A potential spine of Webb, Ferg/Hartlett, McReadie, Ferg/Hartlett, Tippett, with mature-bodied players in most other positions, enough speed across the backlines and midfield, and Beech as a dangerous third forward on the ground or the air. Not to mention last years' squad having the Fishers and Carusos. It is a bloody potent lineup, and Collins has failed to get the best out of it.

Plenty of comparisons have been made with Norwood, but they have to play the style they do, as they have a pretty small defence and a serviceable forwardline (and Bassett has recognized this with their recruiting Newton, Baulderstone, Davis, Panos).

Collins has been praised for turning around West Adelaide, however it took him 6 years, yet Bassett and Francou have done better jobs in a much shorter space of time. Food for thought for those clubs looking at employing him.

But neither Norwood or North were coming off 4 wooden spoons, and both had played finals two years beforehand.
