Night games are not family friendly, the whole attraction to the young ones is that they can kick on the Oval at the breaks. Not at 9.30pm at night freezing cold and dewy.

Terrible oval set-up to watch the game, the stands virtually behind the goals, ancient uncomfortable seats, the grandstand side standing area is on the half-forward/pocket line, portable dirty toilets.

Many reasons to find excuses not to go, especially with kids at night.

I see the CEO trotted out the old chestnut about re-zoning.
It doesnt matter how big your area is if you dont look after it properly.
At the end of the day the kids have to want to play for the team in their zone otherwise there are plenty of ways around it.
Without naming the club that a good friend's kid is at, the coach was advising kids not to go to their zoned club but to head to a rival club. Wonder if that happens in areas like Murray Bridge that has been Sturts for years and they do a great job up there. Id think some of those kids and parents may stay loyal to Sturt.

Maybe that Panther noise after a goal scared the supporters and players off?

This is not really an issue, if that was all that stopped people from going to the footy, then they have a real problem, many opposition I have spoken to think it isn't to bad an idea and a big majority of Glenelg supporters thought it was good to have it go off when both teams scored a goal, it is only the minority that made a lot of noise about it and we all know in South Australia we have the NIMBY syndrome.

Night games are not family friendly, the whole attraction to the young ones is that they can kick on the Oval at the breaks. Not at 9.30pm at night freezing cold and dewy.

Lets be fair, the SANFL have programmed games in the warmer months and not in the freezing cold of Late MAY/JUNE/JULY/AUGUST at Noarlunga, it is unfortunate that the weather does not play its part when ever a night match is played.

Terrible oval set-up to watch the game, the stands virtually behind the goals, ancient uncomfortable seats, the grandstand side standing area is on the half-forward/pocket line, portable dirty toilets.

I cannot disagree with one thing you have written in this para, I also think that cars around the oval is not an attractant to SANFL football, although numbers prove us both wrong. Blowing horns does nothing to lift the atmosphere of a football game while another canteen and beer booth is needed on the Eastern side if the club is to keep spectators interested

Many reasons to find excuses not to go, especially with kids at night.

Many reasons to make up excuses not to go, kids love night footy.

Good post all the same.

The cars around the ground provide a far better atmosphere than the vast empty space which preceded them.

Ive spent about 2 nights a week for the last 3 months near Mount Barker and I've hard more good things about Sturt and what they do in their areas than I heard in living in Souths zone full time for over 20 years.
True story.

You call that the best view? Every club has a stand on the Western side of the Oval, South? No stuck in the deep pocket ONLY. Horrible spot to watch the game. Behind the goals would be better!!

The Eagles main grand stand at Woodville is in the same position as South's...

Also, with regards to the talk here on South - the named state team has Full Forward, Centre Half Forward, Ruck, Ruck Rover and Rover all current or former South players. Unfortunately for South, only the FF and Ruck Rover are currently with the club. Had they kept all or even most of these, you would expect they would be at the top end of the table.

North-west, but point being it is in the pocket/flank and not centre wing. Norwood is similar. Prospect now with the glass on the main grandstand on centre wing gives the oval a different feel as well. I think the facilities at Noarlunga are fine, but each to their own.

Agree Aerie, might just meet North at a good time without Johnston who does play well against us, adding in Groeke to the mix. Sounds like the Power are sniffing around bringing in Moore too. Big game, big test, could define a top 3 spot considering we play north twice in the next 7 rounds. Kirk should be avaliable come the 2nd time around.
