Maybe that Panther noise after a goal scared the supporters and players off?
This is not really an issue, if that was all that stopped people from going to the footy, then they have a real problem, many opposition I have spoken to think it isn't to bad an idea and a big majority of Glenelg supporters thought it was good to have it go off when both teams scored a goal, it is only the minority that made a lot of noise about it and we all know in South Australia we have the NIMBY syndrome.
Night games are not family friendly, the whole attraction to the young ones is that they can kick on the Oval at the breaks. Not at 9.30pm at night freezing cold and dewy.
Lets be fair, the SANFL have programmed games in the warmer months and not in the freezing cold of Late MAY/JUNE/JULY/AUGUST at Noarlunga, it is unfortunate that the weather does not play its part when ever a night match is played.
Terrible oval set-up to watch the game, the stands virtually behind the goals, ancient uncomfortable seats, the grandstand side standing area is on the half-forward/pocket line, portable dirty toilets.
I cannot disagree with one thing you have written in this para, I also think that cars around the oval is not an attractant to SANFL football, although numbers prove us both wrong. Blowing horns does nothing to lift the atmosphere of a football game while another canteen and beer booth is needed on the Eastern side if the club is to keep spectators interested
Many reasons to find excuses not to go, especially with kids at night.
Many reasons to make up excuses not to go, kids love night footy.
Good post all the same.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting
