How far into the season was it that he took the reigns from Massie when he replaced Mickan?

Pretty sure Ken was a Port supporter growing up and played cricket for Port so not a complete outsider. He should do well.

If you're gonna pick McGregor, why not Mead?? He followed Port & played Premiership football for Port!

Probably cause Mead has been in the Magpie system only recently and knew what they would get.

I was very, very surprised when my brother told me Ken McGregor will be the new league coach after he was notified earlier this afternoon. I think it's a odd decision but I'm glad we have found a coach. Hopefully Ken can bring some long awaited success, he certainly has his work cut out for him at the moment though.

Have Norwood run out of people to take over the club?

Maybe Bassett could have applied? :D

Thinking outside the square ain't a bad thing providing everyone supports the decision.

This is obviously part of Port's cost cutting measures when refering to it's coach as "Ken", it works with both :).
U18 & U16 coaches will just have to change their names though but smart move really
.... Ken said we should do this ... did he? Yeh! Which Ken was that?...... The bloody coach Ken!..... I'm not confused

JK wrote:Not really any of my business I know, but I tend to agree with you BR and NM .. There's an school streak in most Port people that always want ex-Port people in charge, but in this day and age every club should just want the best person for the job.

Time will tell in Kenny's case, as with many other relatively untried coaches over the years, but as NM has said the people in charge obviously thought he presented better than other candidates.

I'm not one for saying I want Port people only and my comments were not meant to come across that way.

Now that it is all official and Ken is in the role I wish him all the best....but, as with the Power coaching position it seems we took a little longer than expected and may not have got who we initially wanted or had sought out. Just as with the Power job I am fully behind the coach, I have to be, because the people running my club have selected them to do the job and I have much faith in the people who are making these decisions.

Im not concerned because he is an outsider- its the part time aspect that concerns me.

Anyhoo the club has made its decision, they see Ken as the best fit for the position and i too, wish him all the best.

Spot on beenreal its time all Port supporters & players embraced this decision & get behind Ken McGregor & show him their support, i'd hate to see what i saw a few years ago which really dissappointed me, that being alot of supporters & some players & hyreichy not get behind Matthew Knights because he was an outsider.
I think its a good thing Kens been given the job he's obviously presented himself well above others in his presentation & deserves the job.
I wish him well & he has my support.

Of those who would do it part time.
