Of course it isn't a good look and shows the lack of self control on James' part - probably comes with old age, perhaps?

Certainly not the first time a player on the field has a bit of lip with a fan over the fence - and probably wont be the last !!!

It could be the fact he was also in pain due to sustaining a knock to his injured neck thru the incident.

Oh that's right he was just staging for a free kick as he does

Yes, I was aware of that, I was at the game and saw the incident prior to James having a chat with Crack...

The main point I was making was that it happens all the time and will continue to do so...

Both the twins have a history of 'chatting' with the crowd and whenever something like this happens, people love the opportunity to get stuck into them - you know that...

.. and it is definitely not a good look nor sensible for an opposition supporter to continually talk back to a player during a game. Neither party can come out of this incident looking good.

are you for real??? ... as long as a supporter abides by what is considered acceptable in society (e.g.. no racial vilification, etc) then players are fair game

I go each week and there is always banter with players and umpires and most accept it for what it is.

There are always some unheralded comedians that stand in the outer, as well as the usual sprinkling of dickheads ... it all goes with the turf.

Why should it only be RACIAL vilification that is wrong? If Gowsa happened to be non-caucasian, how would you have felt about the incident? If you know you have upset a person, why continue to do so, no matter the colour of their skin, the colour of their jumper etc? All it is is a sign of immaturity.

100% agree. No need to grizzle if a player does respond to your jibes. Happens

So players are fair game but spectators arent!

If you abuse people you need to be able to take abuse back.

Exactly it goes both way, if you are happy to have a few beers and start abusing people you ordinarily wouldnt on the street to impress your mates then dont be surprised when one day it comes back at you.

I love Crack trying to take the moral high ground going on about James setting a bad example for swearing around kids. Yeah cause yelling out abuse at people from behind a fence is a great example to set.

At least James showed the kids that if you do get abused to stand up for yourself.

Glenelg supporters upset about Gowan's reaction yet have no issue with their former coach confronting oppostion supporters and trying to start a fight backed up by his son's singer / band mates over a comment not even directed at him???

Pot / kettle / black? Please feel free to put them in an appropriate sentence!

I smoked some pot and my pipe went black so I cleaned it with boiling water from the kettle.
