Yeah I am mate, both my parents were Norwood supporter's. My father's first SANFL game was when North knocked off Norwood in the 52 GF by 110 points! :D

What about Port? I do recall a certain photo from a Port grand final!

SANFL is based on "Participation Rates" and South have been at a strong disadvantage for a number of years. Also unlike what many people think, South are not fed into by a number of SFL clubs who are in fact feeder clubs for West, Glenelg and Sturt. In terms of the Murray Bridge League, its not 1 & 1/2 hours through to places like Strathalbyn from Morphett Vale as you can go straight across the hills via local roads.

South relocating to Strath? :?

In the past Port Adelaide were very good at taking players from other peoples zones - Tregenza etc....

There is always a way around it. If a talented kid wants to end up at his club of choice he will.
Plenty of kids play for clubs not in their zone.
Id hope that with all the work clubs like Sturt have done in their zones that the kids stay loyal to them

Given the Murray League has been quite satisfied with it's Sturt FC association over many years, and the fact they are not happy with the new arrangement, I think there might be a good chance of that.

This could also lead to many young players in the region, who are not quite up to AFL level, preferring to stay put in the Murray and not going to the SANFL at all..

PAFC, your club's in enough trouble without you trying to claim Wedgie as a supporter, albeit a former/occasional/once off one.

Much like West supporters being parnoid or worrying about what the NAFC is doing?

Or a norf supporter being paranoid about what west supporters are doing.

Response to Reported Boundary Changes

SAFC Response to Reported Boundary Changes

The South Adelaide Football Club on Monday received proposed boundaries changes prepared by the SANFL Boundaries Commission.

South Adelaide has until Monday December 10 to provide its official response to these changes.

The Club will not be making any further comment on the proposed changes until the Boundaries Commission Report is finalized, other than to make the following points –

•Glad that South Adelaide’s case has been heard
•Respect the River Murray Football League as an established country competition with a rich history
•Disappointed that yet another bunch of Southern Suburbs boys living within ten minutes of Hickinbotham Oval will not have the opportunity to play for the South Adelaide Football Club
•Advise that SAFC will be lodging an application this week for Federal funding for the Southern Sporting Complex to develop facilities to serve the southern region

Wonder if any kid living on the South side of Kensington Rd Toorak Gdns (2 mins) from the Parade wish they could play for Norwood instead of Sturt? 10 mins travelling time is quite a generous buffer compared to the border of Nwds zone to Elizabeth oval and the example provided on the previous sentence.

With the geographical spread of Adelaide it is an impossibility to locate clubs near the centre of their zone or provide a travel time buffer around it.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Well if you jump in the old Ferrari, Magnam style, at 3am in the morning, it takes around 10 minutes to get from the Bay or Unley oval...... so to jump ahead they want all that zone as well! See it's the zones why they can't win anything not even their own raffle comps. or keep top players!

The South statement is quite comical, and underlines that no one, least of all anyone in the Murray Bridge area, should have any confidence in them being able to service that area in the manner it has been in the past.

Main page of the Adelaide Now website Local Footy Section has a number of articles up re those clubs unhappy with the re-zoning proposals. Centrals, Sturt, Norwood and the Eagles all angry!

Upfront, I will state I haven't seen the proposal or any of the articles written so am coming from a pretty naive position.

The SANFL approach the boundaries review with equity in mind while the clubs approach it with their own interests - I'm more surprised there's only 4 clubs unhappy!
