They are grown men, and should be able to motivate themselves to work hard for each other. You don't need to be screamed at by the coach to run harder, attack the ball etc.
You should hear a centrals huddle when they are losing!! They are not quiet and heads down waiting for the tirade from the coach, they are screaming at each other to pull it together!!
I expect a massive Glenelg turn around in energy for a couple of weeks and then they will drop down to the pitiful bunch of dribble they were last weekend.
I liked Mickan, he brought a joke of a team up to league leaders for a few years. They just fell over in the finals because of the weak minded lazy players, playing on their arses looking for frees.
Now Mickan has to live with the indignity of being sacked. Kudos to him, as every week he blamed himself when his team performed poorly. Maybe the players finally believed him when they knew it was their own fault and slackened off.

Right, so you are supportive of Mickan because he presided over a team of "weak minded lazy players, playing on their arses looking for frees". Sounds like a quality coach to me! Meanwhile the reserves were winning premierships....

Excellent question.
I think it would be easier to coach an enthusiastic team that puts in their all week in week out, than a team that doesn't run.
Over the last few years I have watched Westies and Port. Often they didn't have the "talent" in the side but always seemed to have a crack.
Glenelg on the other hand currently have talent but lack of commitment, which I personally think is more a team issue than a coach issue.
My opinion only, but I think the players know they could have done better than what was served up to cause a coach to be sacked.

You whippersnappers had it easy. Back in my day we used to grumble "oooh, I hope we're not ten goals down by time on of the first".
