BACK TO THE CROWD FIGURES
and the RECORD IS ON!!

A great round 19 with 14,483 attending across the 4 games

So as at the end of Round 19
Best Crowd averages since 2000

2011 - 3,306 per game
2001 - 3,297 per game
2002 - 3,225 per game*
2010 - 3,193 per game
2008 - 3,134 per game
2003 - 3,007 per game

So to have the best minor round crowds the century (and beat the 2002 figure*)
we need 34,479 to attend the last 16 games ... an average of just 2,155 per game.

Would there have been many times where the highest ranked match, second vs third, drew the smallest crowd of the round would there?

You hear a lot about the community involvement initiatives undertaken by the Eagles in order to improve their crowds, maybe the Dogs need to do the same?

I think what we also need is opposition supporters to travel to Elizabeth. I thought there was a fair contingent of doggies supporters that journeyed to Richmond, Glenelg, Woodville last week etc, but their was hardly any Sturt, Eagles, West and Glenelg supporters at the Elizabeth games.
Perhaps they don't travel as they're expecting a loss?
P.S I expect some pathetic "trolls", in reply to the above.

No, they don't travel because they're expecting Grievous Bodily Harm.

Very, very few of them will travel to Prospect and they are expecting a win so how will they travel all the way to Elizabeth. I doubt whether many Glenelg supporters would know where Prospect Oval is, let alone Elizabeth

I've found dogs fans tend to travel rather well. No doubt the success is a massive factor there, but against the Eagles on Saturday the dogs were definitely well recieved, so it's not an issue needing to get more dogs fans traveling IMHO. Certainly home attendances could be higher, but no night games doesn't help that cause compared to other sides.

Would be brilliant if someone actually did some research on traveling numbers though.

Find it pathetic that people dont go to Elizabeth. Have travelled there for donkeys years and have never had an issue or felt threatened. I hear this crap all the time about how "we dont go there, its too dangerous". Have taken my son since he was born and we have never felt unsafe once. Time for people to grow up and support your side, you may just end up having a good day out up there

In 30 years, only "incident" I saw was two guys on the outer pocket wrestling before security marched both out of the oval and it went no further. I think a lot depends on where you sit or stand and also probably many of these people who have seen or heard of issues have gone out looking for them.

The fact 8 teams so late in the season are still vying for crucial ladder positions is helping the crowd figures me feels.

I guess thats one for Spelly when was the last time so late in the season not one of the top 8 sides are guarenteed to finish in the same ladder positon.

It's clearly an issue of whee you sit/stand. I've seen plenty happen just outside the grounds from fans,in the old school parking lot across the street and also in the shops parking lot too. But it's usually scumbags, not decent supporters.

Not having a go ,as I have seen other incidents at all grounds. I always go to lizbeth when I lived in SA as I only lived up the road in Craigmore. It was a pain tho as I had to then travel 35 mins to go out in the city lol.

Didn't go to rd 13 at Prospect this year? missed all the Bays fans in theh North east outer and in front of the Mmckay stand??

One only had to look at the crowds around the huddles to see which club had the most supporters there. It helped that we had Massies first game and our first game against Mouse.

Easy a 50:50 split.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

You have got to be kidding. It was at least an 80/20 split North's way. The radio commentators made that comment. Bay supporters have often commented to me how well North travel to the Bay yet they never travel to Prospect.
