So the AFL say they'll help. No conditions etc yet given. What happens with Vlad opens up with this;

Vlad: "So Duncy, Port Power hey, need money.....mmm....I know a way, you can save 1.3 a year, add that to the 2 mil we have and you've got a deal"

Duncy: "How's that"

Vlad: "Wind up the Maggies"

Duncy: "DEAL!"

If you remember the time Port were premiers in 2004, Williams had a wealth of off field talent supporting him. The problem was, Williams was absorbing way too much of the coaching budget and his support staff were earning veritable peanuts. A number of them found their way to Hawthorn when Clarkson left.

When Clarkson was appointed Hawthorn coach, he was entitled to ask more than the agreed contract, but he took less, allowing him to offer those people more money than they received at Port. I've always considered that was the precise moment Port Adelaide started to lose their grip as a force in the AFL.

Oh okay, like Williams when he started, bomber Thompson, Harvey, clarkson, hardwick, the Scott brothers, primus, voss, Craig, etc etc

Couple of those mentioned wouldn't of been on "cheap" money. More often than not, you get what you pay for.

i haven't read any of the 6 pages so far (will get to that later, apologies if this has come up), i received an email yesterday/last night from port wanting some sort of donation, it was something like $500.00 for this or $1,000.00 that etc etc, now i realise they have me in their data base as i was a member of footy park up to 4 years ago, but why would they, the crows or the sanfl still have me in their data bases if i haven't paid up in that time ?

anyway i sent them a 'nice' email back asking them ''to take me off the data base please as i have no interest in port, my only interest is in glenelg''

Well lucky the female port board member resigned, mentioning her appendages may result in a "site banning".

Probably true, but it's not the point. It's the first time the AFL have publicly honored such a deal, don't sweep this under the well worn footy club rug of " ahhhhh it's been going on for years,,,, brown paper bags etc etc", this has been endorsed by the AFL and no other club has said shit all. This will be an issue in the future.

Again, we get back to the problem of 'throwing money @ a problem' & thinking that will fix it.

Does this f***ing State NEVER learn???

Just move them to Adelaide Oval, that will fix the problem... sheesh
Oh... & if you think that the 1/2 Billion Dollar Budget won't 'blow out' - think again.
Already it appears that the 'Opposition' is considering a delay or a 'no vote'.
This redevelopment has the potential to be a 'Montreal '76' type scenario - just wait for the 'levy'!!

I fear that this is the beginning of the end for OUR competition, as we know it.
It may not be immediately but just wait & see - I believe we won't have a competition in 15 to 20 years, at least not in it's current form. :(
That will suit Demetriou & the AFL just fine & dandy.

Thank You Port Adelaide - you've almost managed to achieve what you set out to do in the mid '80s & that's destroy the SANFL!

And didnt know why the 4 Directors resigned today, hang on arent you the President?

How any Port member could have faith in this club after they go from one disaster to another and arent honest with them has got me beat...

I agree, I'll shortly post a letter I sent to the club outlining my concerns about our leadership.

far out the sky is falling too, without the extra money generated by Port the sanfl wouldnt be in the position it is that is exactly why the sanfl wont let it go. otherwise if it was a dead duck they would send it off to tassie

Rucci's questioning at the press conference yesterday and his articles since then have made plain his irrational anti-SANFL agenda. And central to his argument, and to many of the concerns expressed here, is a belief that the so-called 'dividend' paid by the SANFL to the 9 SANFL clubs is exorbitant. I can't believe that an annual figure of about $3.8 million (from total SANFLrevenue) is the difference between the two AFL clubs being more financially secure and not. There are much bigger issues and bigger financial concerns, than that.

The AFL is giving an estimated 9 million to prop up Port power in the next few years
What are Adelaide Crows going to get ?
