I think you're right but I think it's a case of getting our own back after what was a one way street for a fair while.

It's not great being accused of supporting a club that is (1) no chance of the 2011 flag (2) knows they are no chance (3) therefore hops into mickey mouse comps as their only hope of some minor success.

Sort of sticks in the guts. An unfair distortion of what was really going on and not one I recall you making BTW.

So now there's 100 different reasons why those clubs declined (all of which are the main reason apparently - OHS anyone?) and some of the reasons are now proved wrong and it's all turned into a bit of a joke really and TBH I can't resist stirring these guys up as payback.

No, it's not boring. Well, not to me. It's interesting seeing your side of the debate duck, weave and change the story as you go (slight tongue in cheek there).

If it wasn't all about the SANFL premiership (and I actually don't believe it was even 20% about the SANFL premiership) then there are a lot of supporters out there who have made mileage out of that exact issue for what now seems no real reason. It's a gripe not necessarially just against you. I don't recall if you used the "we only care about the SANFL flag and you don't" line TBH.

What about WHUFC who says he overhead a reason (the main reason) that I don't believe was even in the official press release  Classic.

I've changed no part of the story. But I'm not going to re-post the same points that I've posted before. If some people can't grasp the concept that a number of factors are weighed up when forming a decision, then so be it. Also, these factors may have varying importance to different clubs. I also think it's no real surprise that a majority support the "concept", I do. Bring on the footy season, this is boring.

I think thats the point really, that at the time the sides were told they had to committ there was so many different reasons to not join the competition, opposed to a few reasons for the competition.

My club has made so many right decisions in the last 10 years that it is hard to question them on this one especially when they are alot closer to the people involved than i am.

If my club choose to be part of this comp i would have thought it was a dubious decision and hoped that they had proved me wrong. I still would have went to the games and had a blast of a time no doubt. I have said that from the very beginning.

At the end of the day for me if i could see Central win the 2011 Premiership or win the 2011 Foxtel Cup i would pick the SANFL premiership every day of the week. If we had won the Foxtel Cup and then loss to South Adelaide the next week the loss would hurt alot more to me than winning the Foxtel Cup would have been enjoyed.

Mainly North actually. :D

Personally I would have loved an excuse to get on the turps with a group of mates in Brisbane and watch the Redlegs. Not be though and we move on.

I'd like to win both WHUFC - I'd call it "The Double" Throw in the Stanley H Lewis Memorial Trophy and we'd have a treble!

Personally i think it actually looks better and "cleaner" than the normal version. the mistral logo right across the middle in the normal one makes the v look like an upside down A. this one with all the logos smaller and up higher makes it look a lot better IMO. (i realise the normal one is bigger for $$$ reasons though)

And from the looks of it it is still branded as a SANFL guernsey too!!

All white is just too....gay! If we have to play in white jumpers surely we can play in red shorts!

Finally someone talking sense. The gayest species of all, umpires, used to wear all white. In the old days I always thought that North Adelaide's guernsey was miles better than South Melbourne and could never understand why South Melbourne/Sydney never changed to the North Adelaide strip.

I guess that it doesn't matter so much these days, but the all white strip looked disgusting on a muddy day.

Two points on the NAFC guernsey...

1 - white looks crap, always has, always will, just looks ridiculous piss weak on teams

2 - no NAFC sponsorship on it by the looks of it, so it seems the sponsorship issue was true

For me the latter is just a ridiculous and arrogant request from the AFL.

I love white guernseys/tops, always have but yes admit with the white shorts its a bit too much, would prefer red shorts.
Interesting as I think Clarence have white with a red vee too?

Must be the player's name since cs says there's no sponsorship on it! John Mistral is our new ruckman! ;)

I am trying to work out who North clash with and why we would have to go away from our traditional and very powerful looking red with the big white vee. In world sports a lot of red and white teams dominate but I can't think of too many white and red sides who are any good.

I'm sorry Wedgie, I love your work, but white guernseys are the absolute pits and usually the laughing stock of the competition.

My mistake. I assumed "Mistral" was the AFL approved air conditioning subcontractor or something...

What with NAFC not allowed any sponsorship and all.... :?

The sponsorship issue as I understand it was just a relatively minor one, but more a case of the clubs at the time not being certain of what their rights would be. The competitive aspect will always be the more major concern. The other issues I expect most clubs would have backed themselves to sort out over the months coming with both sponsors and the AFL. But nonetheless, uncertainty over what sponsors names would appear, where, how and worst case scenario if, was just one question that remained unresolved when the clubs had to make their final decisions.
