Have to admit Foxtel's coverage of the Foxtel Cup has been fantastic. The commentators have done their research on the teams, which is great to see.

It was a terrific effort by East Perth this afternoon in beating a more fancied opponent in North Ballarat. I didn't see the match but I reckon the 32 degree temperature would have told on the Roosters in the end. On the other hand the Royals have played two WAFL games in warm weather already this season so I suspect that their fitness in the conditions would have been superior.

Would this be the reason why the top SANFL clubs told them to stick up their jumper.
Lack of opportuity to show club sponsors. Would love the Bays to be in it but still some answered questions and the treatment by the AFL of these clubs is poor.
The AFL need to grow up. There is no need for the ground to be vacant an hour before the game, every other league survives so the AFL should adapt and let the game finish then bring out the AFL players it would look better with a fuller stadium. Just have the pre match warm up a little longer wouldn't hurt.

Looking forward to watching Claremont play as the ABC now don't show other leagues anymore and my nephew playing for the Northern Bullants.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Interesting that according to THE AGE this morning Foxtel is looking to broadcast a Saturday twilight AFL game in 2012 onwards ... I wonder where that leaves the future of this competition beyond this year?

AFL in a sat timeslot would leave the opening for a FOXTEL match to begin at a more reasonable time of around 1pm.

Was fortunate enough to catch the last quarter on TV. Great footy played and and excellent comeback by East Perth who celebrated the win like it was a GF.

Will be interesting to see how teams back up in their local comp the week after, especially teams who travel as it openely considered tough even for AFL teams after travelling interstate never mind semi-pro teams who dont have the same recovery facilites as these AFL clubs.

Also will be interesting how the SANFL clubs cope with playing 2 different sets of rule interpretations over the 2 weeks, will be interesting to see if their free kicks against is a high figure the week after playing in the foxtel cup or visa versa, especially if patterns emerge.

Not sure if I can understand the lack of interest in this cup. Ok the prizemoney isnt great but this is the first year of the cup. It certainly adds flavour to Footy by introducing TV viewers to the state leagues.

The teams involved are also representing their League which is of benefit. I think that it has already highlighted some of the teams that people might not be aware of. Arent the TV viewing figures of the two games played so far around 30K and 20K? Thats pretty good going.

Actually I am surprised that the WAFL and SANFL didnt try their own top 4 final system years ago that involved the best from the two leagues in a playoff system. Any promotion of your state comp could only be a good thing.

Problem is mate is makin the wrong people aware, now that you know who Morningside are from watching the foxtel cup is that going to help them out in any form, are you planning on taking out a Panthers membership, or spending money over their bar.

Im not having a go mate but a lot of people are saying that the exposure from the Foxtel Cup is going to be brilliant for these clubs BUT i dont think thats the case at all.

Especially considering the sponsors logos are so small on the guernsey you struggle to see them on t.v anyway. I mean can anyone tell me without going back and checking who Morningside and Nt Thunder had as there makor sponsors.

Can't hurt either.

How many more times are we going to hear your same arguments against this comp? Centrals chose not to participate, so move on. You get to play North the week after they play in Brisbane. Will be fairly embarrassing if you lose that game.

Not according to North. Playing in the comp isn't detrimental to their finals chances. So has no affect.
According to Central it could be detrimental. Logically, if Central lose (and Central) are right, then they just would've lost by more, had they participated.

Well there's no way we will beat Centrals even if we were not playing in the Foxtel Cup.

Ok, but $40,000 for 4 games would be pretty good bonus for good enough club to win all 4 games.
Plus it is a chance for the leagues to be promoted. Ok if north adelaide won the cup I wouldn't go nuts and buy a membership but it might get me watching more sanfl games. I think a league has to be careful that they don't stagnate.

Hmmm....now that West have won their first 2 games in the SANFL, I wonder if they will field their best side in the Foxtel Cup?
