i agree dogger, as i said earlier if any of the teams like port, glenelg, norwood, sturt north etc had got this magnificent acheivement there is no doubt everyone of them would be claiming & rightfully so that this is the best ever.....pre crows pre power is better etc is absolute crap because it is still the same amount of players representing each team & for those that think it isn't a great an acheivement than those of the port or sturt golden eras, all i can say is well if it isn't as important why are you still either going or interested in football ?...to me my football club is as important to me now as it was 40 years ago & i can tell you it hurts just as much now as it did back then when we lost a match....this central team (over the 11 years & counting) should go down as 'the invinceables'

Very true, one other point i will add to the whole pre afl vs post afl debate is that the intentions of each club should not have changed, the main aim of the CDFC has always been to win the SANFL, what happens in another league based out of another state or whatever other variables have come about would have no effect on what that main aim is.

what are you talking about? You should not care where you rank as it only looks like you are gloating & just look at USA ,Collingwood & the like' they are generally hated due to their arrogance. Only the humble are really remembered fondly ie Tendulker,West indies Cricket in the70- 80s, Barrie Robran. What they did is let their sporting talents talk & let others to comment on their success.
So please doggy supporters you are getting caught in a trap that could see you fall hard & you may not be recognised as you should be.

3. STURT 13
5. SOUTH 11
6. CENTRALS 9
7. WEST 8
8. GLENELG 4

And the overall ranking based on the above:

1. PORT - a huge number of flags and very few spoons wins them the chocolates.
2. NORWOOD - an impressive number of flags and not many spoons.
3. CENTRALS - an impressive number of flags for their relatively few years in the comp.
4. EAGLES - two flags and no spoons for their short number of years.
5. NORTH - a solid performer in terms of flags and spoons.
6. STURT - a solid performer in terms of flags but a few too many spoons.
7. WEST - not enough flags and plenty of spoons over their long history.
8. SOUTH - more flags than Westies but heaps more spoons.
9. GLENELG - hardly any flags and loads of spoons see them sitting in bottom spot.

Anyway I thought I'd share this, I look forward to being shot out of the water for it! :D

I don't see why you'd be shot out of the water for that, probably the fairest way to measure sucess over the life of the clubs, the only club who's record could change dramatically after one flag or spoon is the Eagles due to their short life. It would be interesting to see all clubs that have fallen by the wayside added to the list as well.

Yeah I could probably do that - I just did the current teams as the Flags/Spoons/Years info was readily available in the Grand Final Budget.

This might help

When working out the Years by Spoon and Years by Flags did you take into account the years (6?) lost to WW1 and WW2?

I prefer using the flags won since Central and Woodville entered the league (1964) method. Or, flags won this millenium. ;)

So Woodvilles amount of spoons and no premierships could lift Glenelg off the bottom? ;)
