MELROSE PLACE
This is a story of inspiration, one that NW veteran Stuart Bown can relate to
In 1923 a young lad living at the Esplanade Glenelg had his life rocked
At 10 years old he was told because he was tall for his age and becoz of his his continual overgrowing, his growing was playing havoc with his heart
Doctors told the lad his heart was not strong enough to function during exertion
He was told no sport and no exertion for 3 years
This indeed a crippling sentence of solitare for the lad

Today marks the 76th anniversary of what this lad achieved
September 28, 1934
Jimmy Melrose , 21 years old was not faint hearted
He flew his aircraft , the Puss, from Australia to England, some 8 years after his heart prognosis

BOWN
Could well be his last game for the legs
He has also had his complications with his heart
But heez out there this week
Like Keith Bowden, he has come back, when NW needed all hands on deck this season
This courageous NW veteran epitomises that the Heart does beat true

True, absolute massive effort by the big man, and would be a very well deserving premiership player based on his career, his story is a great reminder to all people who struggle through bad health BUT

Does he warrant his spot in the side. Against the Eagles he was imho awful, he was slow, couldnt jump, couldnt chase and his disposal was ok at best.

Norwood are trying to play a fast, play on at all costs style game, does he fit into this system.

Also after listening to alot of ex-players and coaches during last weeks AFL GF they were saying the second game back is always the hardest and is extremly common for players to have zero influence, they used examples as well.

Its a quirky thing
Teenage Ruckman Dan Gooringe was given a lesson by the Big Mac in the 2nd semi
Absolutely no disgrace though
With Doyle injured , he was thrust into the team, and in all fairness he might not have been ready
Dan just looked out of his depth in a finals cauldron
He will be a star player one day, but not yet

DAWE is the same build, so 2 beanpoles against the Big Mac was not the answer 2 weeks ago

So I think NW have rightfully gone for the Big Mac real deal
A combination pack of DAWE/BOWN/ROWE

Yes BOWN might be 1 run short, but thats close enough, the big fella will have his role to play

MONSFAW? What the hell is that about? Secret codes. Sounds very Freemasonry. Let's hope they don't invoke the Cloak of Invisibility or other nasties that may have up their sleeves.
Sounds ominous.

Yeah Gorringe and Dawe are probably a bit two similar, tbh though i think Roy Laird will be extremly happy if Rowe spends a fair portion of the game in ruck and Bown as the FF,CHF.

I think they will use Lower and Zorzi as third man up, only issue with that is if the ball isnt smashed forward they then lose one of the best clearances players at ground level.

Could Norwood imploy a tactic similar to what Central did against Lindsay and try to work winning the ball of MacKenzie's taps, they then could leave Rowe up forward longer and have both Lower and Zorzi fighting for clearances.

Saw that, would that be considered "feral"? Just make sure you bring your phantom ring and remember the secret password (the one used by Dick and Aunt Fanny in the Famous Five).

Come on mate, sorry but MONSFAW and the fact that Norwood supporters truly belive this may get their players over the line is possibly the funniest thing to ever be written on any forum in the world.

If Norwood beat Central Sunday im pretty confident in saying it 100% has nothing to do with the stonecutter code.

I must admit that despite having read all of the famous five books that many years have passed and my recolections of any Dicks and Fannys in those books have faded. Must reread them.

They were a brave group of kiddies though weren't they. Maybe Mr Basset can read some exerpts from these said books to inspire his troops after he has allocated who will be 3rd 4th and 5th up against the 4th best ruckman in the SANFL!

I'm sure if you asked Bassett he would readily concede that Buckets is still better than any of our ruckmen - if you go back through the stats since Doyle was injured early on, you'll find we lose the taps week in, week out. If you read his statement carefully he said he didn't mean any disrespect to Buckets and in today's press conference he was very complimentary of Buckets. In short, much hubbub about nothing.

Its a chant, just like your U dogs mating call.
What i find amusing is dogs fans going onto other teams forums just to see what opposition supporters are up to.
Pathetic really.

Some dogs supporters probably don't. But they're missing a great laugh. :)
I won't bother coming up with all the quotes from your supporters, quoting the cdfc forum. I'm sure when they do it, it's not "pathetic". ;)
Don't get upset HeartbeatsTrue, if you can't see the funny side.

Theres a chap called Campbell who is nowing playing his 4th match back from injury who would love to feed off Bucket's hit outs.
I think Norwood match up very well in the centre with Lower, Zorsi, Trotter, Campbell, Phillips and Weatherald and ruckmen alternating being Rowe, Bown And Dawe.
Will be a very interesting contest with the estimated temp 25 degrees favouring the young runners. Us oldies know your stamina gets less every year over 26/27 even if you believe you are 100% fit.

Yeah mate I know. He was just answering a question put to him by the media. I belive he did so very honestly. My post was firmly tongue in cheek. Can't wait to get to the match and take the piss out of some poor Norwood supporter who sits near me.

Really i think it gives a bit of perspective about othersides and which players are performing and having great years and so forth. eg, i couldnt belive Bown got straight back into your side but reading your forum obviously his very highly rated and important member.

Plus the Roost is always guarenteed for a great laugh.
