Yeah I remember that game too. Sturt sung the club song after the win.

Not true mate, spuds running around this week: Douglas, Burton, Doughty, Burton

Players who should be playing SANFL on form: Edwards, Tippett, Porplyzia, Goodwin.

Youngsters in the side who I do rate: Cook, Petrenko, Henderson.

The rest fall somewhere in between.

Should be delisted: Jacky, Griffin, Hentschel.

Hard to argue with anything there, although I dont rate Petrenko.

You must like Moran these days though

A bit slow there mate. They've already mentioned the spoons. Funny how Centrals supporters are usually a bit precious when it comes to pre 2000 banter unless they have a stat that favours them

Just merely pointing out to bell ends like UK Fan that the SANFL did indeed exist before the noughties. Central District, before Alan Stewart came along (if the club ever decides to erect a statue, he would be the obvious choice), were pretty well considered the laughing stock of the SANFL for the first thirty six years of their existence. Sturt bore that tag in the nineties, granted.

I have an enormous amount of respect for Central. It's a pity that some of the supporters can't be a little more humble and remember where it all began.....

Very close...of course, it's 1-1 in GFs too.

There's plenty of history between Central and Sturt. Not only the 2 GFs in the last decade either.

> Central’s first final and first finals win was against Sturt (First Semi, Sept 4, 1971). The loss ended the Double Blue’s run of 5 straight premierships.

> There's a plethora of home and away memories from Sturt v Central clashes too, but probably the most ghastly football memory I have from my childhood was this:

Round 16 1982. Unley
Central 2.2 8.9 14.17 20.23 (143)
Sturt 9.5 15.6 18.11 21.15 (141)

During the second quarter Sturt led by 70 pts. Central came back to beat Sturt by 2 points. :ymsick: (Thanks Spelly)

Wasn't that the game where Robin Mulholland kicked 5 or 6 last quarter goals for the Doggies and got them over the line ?

Anyway, back to the game at hand, I think Sturt's forward line will worry the Dogs with height but it is a matter of whether or not they fire on the day. Double Blues fans themselves will admit the likes of Herring and Johncock are too inconsistent and need to both play well to be a 2nd or 3rd option behind Chambers.

Central's forward line is very undersized and will rely heavily of their midfield to add to the scoreboard which we all know has been and is one of the Doggies strenghts. All in all, should be a great contest and a good ANZAC Day atmosphere out at Elizabeth.

Was at Prospect today when they played the Last Post before the bounce and it always sends shivers down the spine. Looking forward to that again tomorrow but also seeing some diggers paraded around the ground beforehand.

Not sure which way this one will go, maybe the just Doggies by a couple of goals in a close one...

The Blues are looking a bit inconsistent right now. Dogs sound like they are a bit short on personnel. I think it depends on which Sturt turns up as to who will win. Even with the Dog's having to juggle their side they'd win over the Sturt that capitulated last week to the Eagles in the final quarter. If the real Sturt shows up however, they'd be just as capable of smashing any SANFL side so short on personnel as the Dogs seem to be.
It is a little hard to be confident with the Blues' up and down form right now, but I can't tip against them, when it is such a line call I'll go with the heart that's pumping all that blue through my viens.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I think a small forward line for Centrals could actually be an advantage for them. Our backline is a bit slow and as long as Central don't just bomb it in they should be able to run all over us when the ball hits the deck. Comes down to our mids not letting it get down there I guess.
