As such, should the Power/PAM's merger option fall over, why wouldn't the SANFL take control of the Magpies administration until such time as the club is sustainable? Many businesses have, are and will fall into this category?
very sensible idea BUT were North and Sturt given this option when they were on the brink. The SANFL should not give Port any special treatment just because they are Port. Remember they put themselves in this mess.
If the SANFL was to take control of the Magpies i would want there to be lots of restrictions such as them only being able to use half of there salary cap allowance. There is NO way they should have any advantage because of their own crap administration.
With administration would have to come concessions and conditions I would think ... The SANFL has painted itself into a bit of a corner by not providing help previously.
Make no mistake the genuine struggle the Magpies face at the moment won't be the last by a SANFL club, but by continuing to say "Woodville, Torrens, Sturt, North, Norwood, Port didn't receive any help so we can't help team X" places the current league competition in a dangerous place.
