What I have heard from the club is that he was signed several weeks ago! :D :D :D

From the SAFC,

Panthers’ list signed for 2010

South Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce that it has re-signed all its existing out-of-contract players for 2010.
CEO Ben Kavenagh said it was encouraging that the Club had been able to re-sign its list so early.
“It demonstrates to a prospective coach that we have a united playing group that is determined to turn things around next year. It also allows us to focus on adding a couple more quality recruits, of which we have already signed two.”
The Panthers will shortly announce the names of the two signings, but is respectful of the club commitments these players need to complete before doing so.
Players contracted for 2010 are:
James Boyd
, Michael Handby, Ben Warren, Dylan Williams, Mitch Sandery, Brad Crabb, Tarak Redigolo, Nick McKenna, Lee Schmidt, Alex Splitt, Anthony Carlile, Adam Cockshell, Nathan Lyons, Peter Rolfe, Josh Thewlis, Jake Veide, Leigh Ryan, Jak Kennedy-Hunt, Craig Parry, Chris Minns, Nick Murphy, Sam Elliott, Ben Yeomans, Curtis Perrey, James Turner, Tom Carroll, Jacob Crate.
Players that have announced their retirement either during or following the 2009 season are Jason Torney, Matthew Smith, Ben Neagle and Tom Hateley.
For more information please contact Neill Sharpe, SAFC Football Manager on 8186 8200.

I think that James signed a 2 year deal last year, so he wouldn't have resigned this year as he has 2010 to run on current contract.
Having said that, there was a rumour that he wasn't happy this year under Sambo and was looking to move. Perhaps the change of coach has changed his thinking and perhaps he wants to stay. Then again he could be sick of the continual stuff ups down there and want a fresh start?

So too did Handles so he only has 1 season left of his sentence then he will move closer to home.

5 years should (board aside) add stability & a firm base to build on & it is only 4 years ago the bays were terrible so it can be turned around quickly if EVERYONE works in the same direction & have no factions etc

Not one Eagles player will end at South next season. They all hated him at the Eagles. Shirley wouldn't have played at all if Ron was coaching, Skipworth had to be coaxed to the Eagles for one reason only and that was his almost non existant relationship with Ron Fuller.

The Eagles had to make their decision on Ron and I am laughing that South picked him up. From what I know, our Club had lost faith in Ron's ability to develop players - not just pick them in the League team because there is a massive difference.

Plays his favourites even if they are out of form.
Will promote juniors who are not ready to play SANFL league football. For all the ones who have made the grade there are many who have fallen by the way side.
Lets not forget he wanted Biagi to play for the eagles and chased him .he went home with a large chunk of Eagles money in his pocket after round 4.
there u go ;)

He did have plan b this year - McGregor to FF! ;)

I hope he ain't taking Kenny south with him then

As an SANFL supporter I'm stoked with South's appointment of Ron Fuller and as long as he's allowed to do it his way with no interference he'll do an outstanding job despite certain Eagles fan's who aren't happy with a flag and 8 years out of 9 in the finals.

5 years is way too long I would have expected any initial contract to be 3 years maximum. Fuller is very good working with juniors coming through the system. If I was a Panthers supporter though I wouldn't be expecting a premiership in the next 5 years.

[quote="Gingernuts"]Very optimistic about this appointment. A long time since a premiership coach has been at the helm, it can only be a good thing.

Good luck Ron![/quote

The five year contract might have something to do with Fuller getting to 55/56 so he then could access his fireman's super when he finishes.
