Wore number 5 from memory and kind of had a bit of a hunch...

Dominated reserves games from full forward and maybe played a couple of league games then went back to Tassie...

He kicked over 100 goals in the same competition that Daniel Bradshaw use to play in then came to Central and did nothing.

Can't remember exactly how many goals he kicked but he broke Bradshaws record for most goals in a season. I think the QAFL.

But yeah he came with some decent wraps and finished being the club gardener.

Came out to Centrals with these massive wraps, played 2 league games for the Dogs in our first premiership year of 2000, then dissapeared off the face of the planet. I did see him walking on the Parade the other night, made me think to put him on this thread.

He was a tall, key position player with blonde hair, played CHF I think. From memory, it might have been Adelaide Uni he was from ?

aka astro, he went from spoc to the blacks and back again - last year was coach of spoc's a grade

I assume that is because he kind of looks like Astro Boy ???

Is he still having a kick with SPOC or just coaching ???

and bit of a space cadet.
unsure if he's playing or not

I cannot even remember that name (even from only 8 years ago), and I would have at least seen it when compiling the players lists.

Where was Paul Hallandale and Lincoln Wellington from? And where did they go, after Central?

Spelly,

Halla came from the Border - Albury/Wodonga. Played for Lavington. He ended up at Belconnen in the ACTAFL, where I was a team mate of his. He could seriously play! Believe he's back at Lavi now.

Linc Wellington came from Tatura in the Goulburn Valley (Vic), and I think has gone back there for 09 after a few years coaching Numurkah in the Murray League.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

I always thought Paul Hallandale was unlucky not to play more league for Centrals but he was there in 2000 when they had a pretty strong squad. I think I remember him as a solidly built half forward who like I say, could have played more league.

The only thing I remember about Lincoln Wellington is the pony tail he had. I reckon he played 1 league game, making his debut against South @ Noralunga from memory, in about 200 - 2001. It's interesting to read that he coached Numurkah, that is the home of Centrals 3 x Premiership player Luke Cowan. Although ntohing officially announced, I wouldn't be suprised if Luke retires from SANFL, because of a dodgy knee, and he may return home to play local footy in 09 ?

How many League games did Hallandale play for Centrals?

He only managed the 2 games in the season of 2000, kicking just the 2 goals...

That's about all I can recall of him sorry Conrad...

Thanks, I forgot I posted this, unlike me not forgetting those two players. I think of some players around this time for Central and why they did not stay around for whatever reason and play a part in the flags. These two names just stick out for that for me.

In the Round 23 2000 Budget, Hallandale wore no.50, and in the Reserves there was a Jason Hallandale with the no.46. His brother I assume?

Also in that Reserves side, there was the aforementioned Will James, along with names like Josh Coulter, Paul Scoullar, Yves Sibenaler, Paul Thomas, Jeremy Aufderrheide and Brad Currie.

From the Advertiser I have on this particular round, that was Round 23 2001. He had the following stats credited to him: 4k, 1m, 2h, 3 frees for, 1 free against, 1 goal, 2 tackles. He was one of 14 goalscorers for the Dogs that day. It says he replaced Damian Hicks who had a back injury.

Well done spelly, you never cease to amaze with your wonderful records and stats...

Not really a "like for like" player swap for Damian Hicks, Wellington was more a smaller running half back flanker. Anyway, just out of curiosity, what where the final scores from that game mate ???

The scores were:

Central 10.1 13.2 18.6 26.7 (163)
South 0.4 3.10 6.14 12.15 (87)
Noarlunga, 1863

There was quite a few changes due to injury for that match - Sam McArdle replaced Bowen Lockwood; Matthew Kreig for Bello; Murray Hamblin for Chris Gowans; Cowan for Damien Arnold and Wellington for Hicks. In fact, it lists in the injuries from that match that Wellington himself injured a calf, as well as James Gowans with a thigh injury. That weeks break does come in handy doesn't it? ;)

Wow, an amazing 10 goal to nil start to in favour of the Dogs and they were never going to lose that game. You're right, that is a lot of changes for a game, you might now, what is the record for changes to a side from one week to the next ?

Thanks for that mate, like I said, you never cease to amaze...

I know we had 6 changes in one round this season gone, and I'm sure there has been more than that - but I don't have a record of that though. ;)

I seem to recall North making seven changes in a game late in the season this year.

There were six changes between Rounds 18 and 19 for North - Stribling, Wintle, B.White, Lonie, Wright and D.Ebert replaced Millar, Delvins, D.White, Krieg, Clarke and McGahey.

Both were very good players in crap teams. Setchell had 4 or 5 years with us and was one of our few consistent good players. Brett Knowles, I am fairly sure led the league in total possessions in his one year with us but he was a football "slut" and played where the moeny was. He was finished when he was the only Senior Player not to donate one weeks match payments back to the club for the change room upgrade at a time when $ at Prospect were as rare as a North win! He was "mysteriously" dropped for the last 3 games IIRC.

North have had plenty of "duds" lead by Burrows and Marty Whitelaw both from WA. Along with a couple of WA recruits we have had over time I think that our recriters should never look West of the SA border again!

Marty Whitelaws girlfriend was worth the transfer fee though. :)
