Ron Fuller & South part ways

Postby Big Phil » Tue Aug 27, 2013 2:07 pm

From SAFC...

The South Adelaide Football Club wishes to announce that Ron Fuller has been released from his contractual obligations to the club as Senior Coach. An extensive consultation and review into our club’s football performance has been undertaken over the past two to three months. This process identified a number of areas that need to be addressed for our club to realise its potential with the calibre of the current playing group. The South Adelaide Football Club will be in the best position to do this with a new Senior Coach for Season 2014. Ron has issued the following statement, “I would like to wish the South Adelaide Football Club and all the fine people associated with it, every success for the future.” The South Adelaide Football Club thanks Ron for his valuable contribution to our Club over the past four years. The South Adelaide Football Club will immediately undertake the process of recruiting a Senior Coach for Season 2014.

Where to now for South?

They've tried an inexperienced home grown product, they've tried a proven import and both have failed miserably.

Not surprising and in reality Ron must have felt this coming. My concern is two-fold, this will cost the club $$ in paying out the remainder of the contract (one year to run) plus start paying another coach, plus Ron's failure to improve the club (apart from 2011 when everything was on track(what happened since then?) is surely going to influence the calibre of candidate who may apply. Unless of course we already have a replacement..."hello Collo defensive footy you say, what joy to watch".

Does South Adelaide have Andy Collins' phone number?

Who takes charge this week? Brett Backwell? Kym Cobb? Not sure who else is one of the assistants

Early markets must have Collins odds on favourite. Why don't the two clubs just swap coaches ?
I seriously think Collins would be a good choice. The club needs a massive culture change same as he did at Westies.

Made a comment in the Media yesterday that if there was a full time SANFL position available he would consider it.

This was on the cards just to state the bleeding obvious!!!!
Good luck to Ron for the future!
Hope the club thinks good and hard about the next coach! Not only does he have to have a good track record he needs to be able to gain the immediate respect of the playing group and be a good communicator! The days of the old fashioned draconian coach are gone!!
What a wasted 2013 season!!!!
