Wow, great win! Godden has mixed youth in to the side perfectly. Likely to still come down to needing to win the last match vs West at Richmond to get a top 3 spot, but it is in our hands.

Jarrad outstanding. Goldsworthy full of class. Parry, Powell, Giuffreda, Raymond, Lewis all providing enough grunt for the youngsters to feed off. Von Bertoch and Ellis-Yolmen continue to do a great job holding down key defensive posts despite their inexperience.

I couldn't be prouder of the the way the guys went at it today.

We haven't played the best at Prospect in recent times so to come up and dismantle North who are a good side was a great achievement.

Early on I thought our defence looked undersized and Stewart in particular looked set for a big day. But our defence stood up after half time and Giuffreda and Ellis-Yolman looked brilliant. On the latter, I think he finally looks at home in a position. Von Bertouch looks like a young Ken McGregor and I think looks set to develop into a similarly useful player.

Goldsworthy was brilliant. He is one of those guys whose lack of pace has meant he has not been drafted. Sad for him but great for us given his value to the team. A breakout year.

Our multiple goalscoring options was clearly evident today which was great. Salter started well early then faded but was repalced with Fitzgerald and Staple. Powell played one of his best games for us for a long time as well.

Very surprised to see Mitchell get as many possessions as he did. I didn't think he did much and seems to turn the ball over far too much. I was hoping he'd be a better player in the SANFL then he has shown with us.

Today North showed as much soul as its board did this week.

I reckon I counted a North player kicking the ball directly to an Eagles player at least 30 times today.

Echo the comments above re: young players. Especially pleasing to see Zac Fitzgerald in the side, played very well in the Elimination final last year and did well today - has an instinctiveness about his game. Turned out to be quite pleasant in the sun on the outer wing in the WWT nest, we got pretty excited. Very open last half, won't be same in next two games!

Agree with the comment re Powell - his best game since Alberton at least. Thought we played very well apart from in the second quarter. Showed strong character to come back at them in the 3rd after the score went from 6 goals to 1, to 6 to 6 at half time. Was surprised at how North dropped off in the last quarter. Haven't seen a team drop off like that in a long time.

Today's was a very important game to win, and Centrals did us a favour as well. Winning 1 of our last 2 may now be good enough to make the top 3.

Your right and even your mob might beat us next week - hang on, will most likely beat us!

Well done Eagles - given the "outs" you had today, your effort all day was very good.

As for my team....another wasted year. I had at least the time post match to discuss today's effort with the Coach, Football Manager and CEO and sadly we were all on the same page. The words soft, insipid, indecisive, undisciplined and front running etc. were bandied about freely but take nothing away from the Eagles who exposed North badly, albeit Centrals and Sturt did so in the previous 2 games also.

Will be an interesting finals series coming up now North is sliding big time and Centrals up and about so who really is the main challenger to Norwood? Up until today I wouldn't have included the Eagles but they are up and about and at least on today's effort will give any opponent a real crack.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.
