South 6.7 43
Sturt 5.8 38

Sounds like it was a blockbuster.

Had to work through this match (damned Saturday afternoon matches!) but by my count both sides scored only 2 goals each after half time, with South getting a goal in the final minute to clinch it. Must have been some sort of pressure! Congratulations to the Panthers on the win. 2 in a row, at home also, plus with it being a close one it perhaps makes up for the one we stole in the last minute at Noarlunga last year.
Sturt and Glenelg now look set to battle it out for the spoon.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

South won two in a row at Noarlunga?

Good, they'll be off guard by the time our mob goes back there...

Sturt will finish last...

In fact I think we will get 5-6 spoons in a row, Crows reserves will kill our team off when all those players leave. Plus the board is too incompetent to save the club.

Hate to say it, but just don't think the team will survive.

Lucky to win that one. After kicking four goals to zip in the first, South looked in control. Sturt got back in through hard work and bad kicking for goal by South in the second. South kicked 0-4 in the middle two quarters. Sturt by 2 points at the last change and the last quarter was a mobile scrum in the wet. Wundke got a free inside the last minute to kick the winning goal from the grandstand pocket. The free was for holding the ball against Hinge, and was one that is quite often called play on.

Kenny McGregor sitting in his car watching on the outer side checking out next weeks opposition.

Nice to hear a South supporter give a fair assessment of that last free. Technically it may have been there, but the umps (who were woeful) had not been paying similar all day.

Anyway, great kick under huge pressure by Wundke, who showed he is the best SANFL full forward.

Certainly extremely disappointing but there were some very good efforts today by the likes of Tambling, Coad, Hinge, Panozzo and some good work by Page and Greenslade.

South supporters should be happy with back to back wins, but their place on the ladder is probably correct IMO (as is ours).

And if I ever hear a South supporter complain about the state of the ground or facilities at Unley I'll remind them of today!

Just like Ron Fuller led the Eags to the flag in '06 to keep his job, it seems he's getting wins for South when his job hangs in the balance...

Lucky to get the points in the end, but we'll take them 8) Probably should have been up by more at half time, and then completely outplayed by the Blues after the break. Very tight/tense final term, with Cross botching a few opportunities in front of goal, as did Sturt. The umpiring has been alright in the past 3 or 4 south games, but was very unpredictable today. Thought that final holding the ball call was harsh. Great kick by Wundke though. ;)

Probably the muddiest/wettest I've seen the Noarlunga surface in recent memory. Usually a top notch surface even after rain.

Got slaughtered in ruck, but managed to win the clearances which proved important. Liked the game of Gotch in close. Tambling very good for Sturt.

Thought the ground held up pretty well considering the amount of rain before and during the game.

Sure, they're a chance, but to say they will is ridiculous. Glad you have nothing to do with the club Captain Pessimist!

I'm much more hopeful of the clubs on field hopes after the last month or so. We have some good young players coming through. The only AFL players we'd really miss are Tambling an maybe Martin. The rest we rarely see, or they're not much good anyway...

As for the state of the oval, there were 6mm since 9am this morning and places where there were over an inch of pooling water on the ground...

Yep, I had nothing to do with putting the club $2 million plus in the red...

That takes something special.

The club is a good chance of coming last, its just my feeling we will luck out and finish bottom again. Hardly a ridiculous thought...

I would argue there are more players that will go that we will miss and that will make a two to three time bottom team more likely to come last again.

Again I don't think that's a ridiculous proposition.
