Rnd 5: Norwood v West @ Coopers Stadium (ANZAC Day Thu 25/4)

Postby Big Phil » Sun Apr 21, 2013 9:49 pm

The Redlegs dropped their first game of the season last week and will be keen to bounce back, while the Bloods start a season 4-0 for the first time since 1998 and are playing some very good footy at present...

ANZAC Day always a special one on the calendar and even more so with the footy, especially when that last post is played...

There should be a great crowd head to this one, which is the first ANZAC Day clash since 2001 that hasn't involved Centrals...

Reserves @ 12:10pm

League @ 3:10pm

Broadcast Details - 1197am RPH Adelaide from 3:00pm

Neither team was at its best last friday night, I wonder whether in the back of their minds they were thinking about this game? Short back up with it being a Thursday game. Should be a cracker with the weather doing the right thing (25 is forecast) so it deserves a big crowd.

Doubt they were thinking too far ahead. And six days isn't really a short week in the scheme of things. Good programming from the SANFL.

Your probably right but Westies didnt play with the same intensity as they did for the first three games. Thursday game makes it feel like a short week but as you say it isnt.

West will miss Lairdy again after a solid debut BUT will porplycia drop back?
Thomas must be close to an AFL call up too - He has been amassing huge stats each week.

Pity this game wasnt last week but a bit of lustre has come off it for me with both sides putting in mediocre performances last week.

Is the game not being televised by the ABC because it is at Coopers? Not listed in the ABC programming for Thursday. :(

First time in years that the ANZAC day game hasn't been televised. Televising the game is almost a tradition as the ANZAC day game itself.

p.s. I would still go if it was televised, just wondering why its not being televised.

How do the performances last week take some lustre off the game?

The Eagles v Central ANZAC Day game @ Woodville was NOT televised last year.

It is because the SANFL and ABC only have an agreement to telecast one game a weekend, which will be traditional Saturday afternoon time slot. Has nothing to do with it being at Coopers, although from an infrastructure point of view, I believe that venue is the hardest for ABC to set up broadcast from.

There will be a couple of Norwood games on TV in a few weeks, from memory, you have back to back home televised games...

It's all about infrastructure and cost reduction, tradition doesn't come into the equation...

Still top vs 2nd. Should be a great game and West have a chance to get a mini-break early in the season.
