Round 17 West vs Glenelg @ Richmond (Friday 20th)

Postby Brodlach » Mon Jul 16, 2012 10:45 am

Massive game for both clubs. West coming off a bye and Glenelg a "double" bye.

Win by West will see them two games clear in third spot and will almost certainly cement a finals spot.
For Glenelg, a win means they join West as equal third and the double chance.

My tip, West by 4 goals

Please note there is a change in the fixture, game is now Friday not Saturday
July 11th 2012....

After seeing North come off the double bye against Port it will be interesting to see how Glenelg cope with having such a long time without a game.

Should be a good game, Bays to start sluggishly but come home in a close one. Two weeks off is gold to get over the little niggles all players have at this time of year.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

This will be an interesting clash to see how both sides come out of their respective bye situations. Looking forward to getting down to the Friday night lights of City Mazda Stadium.

If West Adelaide play their attacking style of Football they will win by 3 to 5 goals. Glenelg are talented side but two weeks of may prove costly.

I think it was about round 11 last year after beating North at Prospect and having to make 9 changes the next week.

Nice strategy to turn around our poor form vs bays by laying a Friday night game in the cold art of the year. Like our chances of it working this week. Bloods by 6 goals.

Happy to see Kirkby out from Bays side. M. Still named in reserves side, I reckon there is a place in our forward line for him at his best.

Agree. But unfortunately he keeps getting injured when he starts to push for selection.

Hitchcock named for Glenelg, when was the last game he played? Has he played reserves for another club like Lyon has?

No, not that I'm aware of. His last game, if memory serves me correct, was the clash against the Doggies at the Bay in Round 13.

He did the hammy in the first 5 minutes and then supposedly went and sat up in the stands with fellow Power mate John Butcher.

First game back, while I believe Lyons has played the last 2 weeks in the ressies.

Smallest Glenelg team I have seen for a while, might not be a bad tactic at night in July.
