Could they do a state league state of origin where all the best south aussies players not only from the SANFL but also from the WAFL/VFL take on another state done on a rotation policy like state football currently is.

I haven't spoken to any our boys about it, but do any of you speak to your players and have any feedback on how they receive it? Are they honoured and all for it, or in this day and age more looking forward to a break or heading back home?

None of those quite define my attitude
Regarding the State League games - "I take notice, like watching and think it's still good to have, but not as passionate about it as I used to be or about club footy"
I'd be more passionate about SOO than State League, partly because the State League side has so many more interstaters than it used to.
Having said that, looking forward to going this year at the Bay.

Just 1 for me.

SOO was good in its day, and I'd support it if it was still going, but the SA side and its opponent would be comprised entirely of AFL players. I do not follow the AFL closely and many of the names would either mean nothing to me or be no more than names - I'd know that such-and-such a player once played for Norwood or whoever, but would have no idea how they perform on a week-to-week basis in the other league.

In the state match I will be aware of all the players in the SA team and can thus feel a closer bond to it. I feel that the SA state team better represents the state in football than would any SOO team.

I'll be there with bells on.

I disagree. How would any player born in Victoria/NSW etc, after as little as two Adelaide winters, feel any pride in wearing the South Australian guernsey?

I admit you are looking at it from the fans perspective and I the players, in saying that, I would think players of South Australian origin, lets say Bryce Gibbs, would feel much pride in being given the opportunity to represent the state.

For mine, SOO or nothing.

I prefer state league interstate to origin as origin is just a gimmick that proves nothing IMHO.
Having said that I prefer the Foxtel Cup over both of them as its the best indicator of where the respective leagues are at.
With such a ridiculous draw this year we can't afford the state game and it costs money instead of making it.

Could be interesting as a night game early on in the season, might actually get a better crowd than a Saturday afternoon? Much prefer the State of Origin concept, especially being that it was the SANFL and many of its supporters that called for it after seeing Malcolm Blight cut loose on SA!

I much prefer a State game to a SoO, if our state league is to improve then it has to play against the best the other states have to offer, then, just maybe the Foxtel Cup will gain the support is was set out to achieve.

The best playing the worst is like watching Black Caviar run and win.
