Best BBQ???

Postby mickey » Sun May 08, 2011 12:43 am

Having the chance to go to the SANFL just about every week this season, so far i have been disappointed in the general standard of the BBQ at the grounds so far this year..

The best so far has been @ Alberton last week against WA, especially the steak sandwich with egg, bacon & onion.
Woodville is 2nd so far with a nice steak sanga, no bacon etc was a let down after last week though
Prospect is 3rd on the list with a rather bland S/S.. didnt get back for 2nds..
and last so far is Alberton when we played Glenelg.. terrible piece of steak, and a real let down to a good day...

Apart from the steak sandwich in the Port v West game, i would be confident that most SAAFL clubs have a better BBQ on match days.. Especially the 'Don Burger' @ Modbury, the Boadvidew BBQ are the best going round..

Can i expect the quality to get better as the season goes on, or is it like the Magpies form so far this season.. The good being very good, and the bad very bad?

Would be very hard for anyone to beat broadview, great chick breast schnitzels, with bacon, onion and bbq sauce for 5 or 6 bucks

The Parade has outsourced its catering and its carp IMO.

Sturt tried a few years ago as well but thankfully they saw the light and got rid of them.

West have the best BBQ set up and have even improved it this year with the lining up situation. Good quality food and service to match.
Don't mind the Panthers BBQ under the verandah near the players race rate it much higher than the one on top of the hill

Now just being a bit biased, the Panther Club on the hill has to have the best BBQ in the league, the queue is always 5 deep and deeper, and you get good value for your money.

Westies are a close second, Maggies next, with Doggies and the Bays tying for fourth.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

I wonder how much our perception is coloured by value for money? Had a delicious burger at Unley yesterday but for the $5(!) I paid for it I could get a side of beef at Richmond.

Love the Westies BBQ (quaint service makes you yearn for simpler times) and Noarlunga does do a sensational burger.

Alberton loses points for consistency I reckon - it can be really good or really dire.

i reckon the Westies BBQ is massively over-rated, don't get me wrong its still good and value for money but when I buy anything from there I am left underwhelmed based on how people on here go on about it. No better IMO than anything I've had at Noarlunga, Norwood, The Bay, Alberton, Myponga, Edwardstown etc
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
