2nd Semi Final: Central v Norwood - 3.10pm @ AAMI (Sun 19/9)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Sep 13, 2010 10:33 am

So the Redlegs Revival marches on and now face the Doggies in a final for the first time in over a decade...

Central will be fresh with the week's rest and will welcolme Jay Nash and possibly Brayden O'Hara into the side which strengthens them even more.

Norwood's tackling pressure (77 tackles total - Brett Zorzi 14 alone) was very Central like and this is really set up to be a great game of football.

The total margin in the last 5 game between these 2 sides is just 35 points (thanks Jai Bednall) which indicates it should be another classic, hard fought contest.

That being said, I think the experience and freshness of the Doggies will see them get up by about 3 or 4 goals...

Dutchy, werent impressed with the three times we have comfortably beaten your mob. ;)

In saying that Norwood were ultra impressive against the Bays, it they can bring that commitment, agression and skill level this weekend then i think they are a real chance to upset the Dogs, i mean they have given the Dogs a run for their money the last few years even when they haven't been playing that well.

Another side note from the telecast, they showed Norwood after the victory and in the changerooms until the finish of the club song and Norwood were very professional with how they reacted after the game. There was no major celebrations, no over reactions and they seemed to understand the win was a stepping stone not the holy grail. I was very impressed i thought they may have went wild but they didn't.

For the Dogs they will probably have one or two changes to side which took on the bays, with Nash available and the likes of L.Westoff, M.Westoff, D.Hynes impressing in the ressies as well as Cochrane and Switala getting another game under there belt.

I cant pick this one way to close so im going..................................

DRAW (rock paper scissors to decide extra time)

Will Sutherland play?
Did he have more than four beers celebrating Saturday's win for Berri?

If not, I thought Hardy had a good game against Norwood at Elizabeth, last time we played them. Sutherland had a very good game against the Bays in our last game. Hard decision.

centrals will beat norwood by a comfortable 4-5 goal margin

norwoods pressure yesterday was sensational, however they play a finals hardened side who absolutely thrive on hard body contact and pressure. Not sure norwood can maintain that for 4 qtrs.

centrals will be a lot better off for having a weeks rest, get some of those bodies right to go for sunday.

***********Thread now back on track***********

Looking forward to this one as a "neutral", I think the quick legs of the 'Legs might show up as a valuable commodity on the wide expanses of Footy Park. Might even head down for this one.

Sutherland was a dynamo in the first term for Berri. His 4.1 in the first set the game up.
One was a freakish snap shot from around 50.
He was good but will have to lift to play at SANFL finals level.
