If it means the GF isn't played on the first day of daylight savings then I'm all for it!

Can't see any particular problem with this, except that it may mean there's no public holiday the day after.

If the Dogs are in. It will mean a drive straight back home after the game and not heading back to the Ponderosa.
Won't be doing it Monday morning, that's for certain.

If this happens I would like to see a sat GF with the AFL having no replay if drwn at full time and Start the game at either 4 or 5

I know the AFL wont change the drawn rule though due to the money they stand to make form this happening. I would like to see the SANFL change to rule for our comp as a GF going into OT would be fantastic.

Festival of the boot part I - AFL GF on the Saturday
Festival of the boot part II - SANFL GF on the Sunday
Festival of the hangover part I - on the Monday public holiday

what's the problem with that plan???

Load of crap IMO.

I wonder what our regional cricket competitions will do now, as we generally start juniors on that Sunday and seniors on the second Saturday of the month!

Just play it the day after the AFL grand final. It would be an amazing weekend!

Surprised this has been finalised this early as draft schedule not due out for club feedback until late October at earliest. Maybe a way putting it out there to check public opinion.

NB - This is an issue for 2011 only, AFL plays to have GF back in September from 2012 onwards.

AS a once off I dont mind it, in fact I like the attitude of keeping it right away from the AFL (Imagine if the Crows won the 2011 GF, the SANFL GF would be a fizzer the next day)

It can't be played on the same weekend as the AFL Grand Final. Could you imagine if an SA team made the AFL Frand Final? Nobody would even know the SANFL Grand Final was on. There would be that much media coverage of the AFL teams, the SANFL wouldn't even get a look in. There would be no room to market the game, as all media attention would be entirely focused on the AFL.

2000 saw the GF played on the 10th September as the season started early because of the Olympics.....wasn't an issue then, well apart from getting home smashed at 4am and then being woken by the wife at 5am to say the baby was on its' way

North Eastern Community weren't entirely sure who to admit ;)

Yep not many other options really.

Cant play it before the AFL grand final or the day after as it would just be sitting in the background and wouldn't get the attention it deserves. If the Crows were still in the finals on the same weekend as an SANFL Grand Final we would probably see a record low crowd.

Move it back to a Sat arvo FFS.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Yep, agreed.

Not if the prelim remains on the preceding Sunday.

But play the prelim on the Friday night and she'll be apples.

I don't mind it either.

The Grand Final is currently played between the 2nd and the 8th of October and so, for me, seeing it played on the 9th of October for one season is no great shock.
