Asked about South on the other match thread, but anyone know how many games the Pies have lost by under say 3 goals this season?

would a draw have been a fitting result today or were west the better team over-all?

Probably would have been a fitting result. Port should have been further ahead at 1/4 time. West had the better of it in the 2nd and 3rd Q, while Port finished off strong.

Nevertheless, any win at Alberton is a good win. So I'll cash in our get out of jail free card and celebrate the win!

Special mention to Ryan Willits who battled all day in the ruck against the bigger Micklejohn, yet managed to hold a tackle and receive the free with only minutes left about 45 out and nail the goal to level the scores.

If it was 20m out I would hate to think what could have happened! Hopefully Bennett was watching!

That's Willits for you. Don't forgett his shot on goal when it really mattered earlier in the quarter that went out of bounds!!!!

Ahhhh! That was the game that got away. Port had the use of the breeze in the first quarter and although Westies were not far behind Port certainly had the better of the first stanza.

West were sound for the secod and third quarters but who ever said they dont flood back wasn't at todays game, hey R&B? Fortunately for the spectators Port made several attempts to open the game up and it wasnt until the last 5 mintues did the game actually open up.

With 2 or 3 minutes to go Port hit the front by a goal ,West quickly replied and I thought a draw would be a fitting result, however a late snap proved to be the difference. Once again, very competitive without bringing home the chocolates.

Bravo to the lady in the Port Club who gave me a free pint or two. I think the Boon charm won her over.... ;)

Little bit drunk and I am about to cook chiekcn burgers for tea.

Money worries over then, or just a case of running down stock before closing up shop.....

You gotta feel for Jarrod Young
Last year he had an after the siren kick to win the game for PA v WA
He missed and WA won a thriller
Today he totally redeemed himself
3 Last qtr goals almost and should have won the game for his team
He kicked PA last goal to eke out a 6 point lead with very little time left

Listening to the 5rph call there were a few iffy umpiring decisions late in this game
Did it cost or win the game for these teams ?

Certaintly have to give alot of credit to Ryan Willits today.

He was outstanding today considering he is not a natural ruckman.

He was jumping all over Meiklejohn and Cloke for alot of the day.

May have found his position.

Silvester was also brilliant again today and is proving to be one of the best (if not the best) defenders in the league.

Barely was a passenger for us today.

Very impressed with the port youngsters who have considerable pace. Can't work out why Cloke isn't playing for the power. Class above most at this level.
