Norwood learning how to really grind out wins. A good sign.

Both teams flood?

Always good to get a win but would like to see the Legs kicking more goals. Only time we have hit 10 goals in the last four games was the losing game against Sturt.

I wouldn't say both teams "flooded". It was mainly a lot of numbers around the ball.

Both teams skill level was average at best.

West Adelaide you are a disgrace, great, watchable style of footy you have. x_x

Rubbish game, rubbish skills.

Hughes broke the game open with 2 third quarter goals. Lower, Puopolo and Campbell excellent in the midfield, McGuiness a star in defence.

Norwood you are a disgrace, great, watchable style of footy you have (insert smily face, can't seem to do it on the phone).

As TNT stated you lot have struggled to kick 10 goals the last few weeks so its not just us.

As an aside, does anyone have the official free kick count for this match. Not the made up ones we'll see in the paper tomorrow.

Easily the worse game of footy I have seen in many years. Both teams lacked skill and turned the ball over.

On paper, I thought we would have stretched the Redlegs defense, as McGuiness had to play FB due to a lack of height down back. Surely with Bennett, Webb and Hartlett, coupled with F Caruso and Porps, surely that was the one part of the ground we had an advantage. When will Collins stop this flooding football and let the team play attacking football? (By attacking, I mean being able to score 12+ goals consitently)

Loved it how whenever Norwood went forward you didn't have a single forward past the centre of the ground. Every single time, 3 or 4 loose men standing in the hole.

Norwood did it a bit early, but then had more forwards the game wore on. West didn't change.

Nice way to stay in the game and limit the oppositions score, but you lost, so nicely done. :)

Well considering West were still in the game with 2 mins to go, couldnt be too bad a tactic. You must have missed Norwood starting with 2 loose in defense at the start of the match. A very negative approach?

I'm happy to let the other posters who attended the game decide which team was the more defensive. :D

Both teams have an emphasis on restricting opposition scoring and then starting attacks from the back .. Both teams seemed to know the others structures very well, and both teams had several players skills not stack up to usual (and necessary) standard under pressure.

Last quarter the most exciting for the game, but it wasn't pretty, and often nor it should be, 2 points were well earned today in a game that really could have gone either way.

I agree with you, West were more defensive. However, the tactic almost achieved the desired result as Norwood were unable to combat against it. That was all. I'll leave it to others to mention the umpiring

Fair call, I don't have an issue with that. 8)

Whatever works I guess, thankfully it didn't though as it would've made a terrible game even worse.

In my first post I mentioned that Collins is too defensive (must have taken coaching adice from Pim Verbeek against Germany) and would rather us be more attacking, especially as we had a size advantage of Nwd.

While I hate the flooding tactic, if it gets the win, well I guess who are we to judge? However, i think such a game plan does not work well and maybe time to turn to Plan B

Probly going to get shot here but

I thought it was a great game of SANFL footy. A few silly things may cost the bloods but other than that i thought it hard tough football all day.

When was the last time that the legs and bloods drew over 3,000 people at norwood

Fair post Thiele, it was a good match in terms of contested footy ahead of each teams last line of defence, but it certainly wasn't a game for the purists.

I think a couple of ill-disciplined moments from Westies in the last were most telling

I don't think this was a game decided by the umpires, although I thought West's momentum was stopped by a few decisions.

It must be a record, though, for one team to get 3 of their 8 goals from one umpire's 25 or 50 metere penalties. Hello Tony ;)

As for flooding, knowing this would be the usual refrain, I pointed out to a well-known and respected Leg's fan that Norwood often started with not just 1 man behind the ball, not just 2, but THREE men behind the ball today.

That's footy.

I agree with Thiele; it was a hard, tough game, in the balance nearly all day.
