Round 9 - North v West @ Prospect Sat 22nd May

Postby GWW » Sun May 16, 2010 8:31 pm

West are one of the in form sides of the competition at the moment, and will be coming up a disappointing North side wanting to kick a winning score.

I think this game could be reasonably close, West by 17 points.

Chubb, Webb would be doubtful starters and Pettigrew is out for at least 12 weeks. Hartlett, Anderson wont be back until the week after the bye. North have also had their depth tested. Looks like the shadows of the sides that met in rd 1 > What a difference 8 weeks has made to both line-ups.

is this norths last chance to push for a top 3 spot or even for the final 5 ?

as pointed out the makeup of both teams will be crucial but i think west seem to be more of a TEAM than north are at this stage, i think north are a fractured team atm
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Jonathon Platten will be an OUT for North after being suspended for 1 game as a result of being found gulity on a rough conduct charge involving Norwood's Simon Phillips last week.

I don't know why Stewart would be named as an out. He's an emergency for Port and apparently Nash is the travelling emergency.

Good to see Heath Younie back for the Roosters after is ankle injury and a return to footy via the ressies last week...

I've always enjoyed watching Heath play and think he may add some class and finishing skill around goals for the Roosters, something they have probably lacked in recent weeks.

Seriously North supporters, you're all acting as though you're winless and get smashed by 100 points every week.

Reality: You're in bad form but not that bad.

How many times have you seen North play NFC? 3 wins this year, have included South, Sturt(lucky) and Port(extremely lucky). Have been thumped by West, WWT and Centrals, and managed to hang in for 3qtrs against an unconvincing Norwood, and lost to Glenelg who played about 15mins of footy that day. North have a worse percentage than a team who has 1 win for the year. North have kicked 10 goals in a game 3 times this year. Yeah, North supporters should be optimistic. Even if we beat West this week, it means squat. Until Rnd 1 this year, they were are easy beats.

West by 30pts.

ps. May be tempted to have a bet on North if they are paying over $3.

It's at Prospect. I expect North to start pretty strong favourites on sportsbet. And so they should. When was the last time West won there?

West last won at Prospect in 2003, so they are due. Remember they hadn't beaten North since 2003 anywhere until round one at Richmond. Sooner or later the wheel has to turn.

North have a chance for a win if they play four quarters of Solid football. West of late have seemed to get the lead and then play defensive football which is starting to give me a case of the S**TS. We need to put a side away and learn how to do just that

I agree Norh are a chance to win but they have as much chance of starting as "pretty strong favourites on Sportsbet" as I do of lining up in ruck tomorrow, mind you sportsbet have made some mistakes this year so maybe not that remote.
