Reserves Fixture time changes

Postby Big Phil » Fri Dec 18, 2009 2:27 pm

Have just seen the official fixture from the SANFL for the Reserves competition next season and I noticed that there is change in start time for the games.

A few years ago I think it was 11.35am then the last couple of years it's been 11.15am but for 2010 it will be at 11.25am.

I called it when the League fixture came out that the reserves game time would move.

I think the SANFL commisson needs to form a sub-committee on this one.

Can we get an official reason as to why we have now changed the time of the matches two times in the past four seasons? I remember the change from 2.20 to 2 was supposed to be because some matches got dark in the last quarter and it was supposed to give people who attended Saturday Night matches at Footy Park more time to get there.

So why was 2pm not good enough and 2.20 pm is not as well?

changing the reserves starting time for next year is a smart move, was a pain in the behind having a 25-30 minute wait between games with the ressies players just sitting on the grass waiting around, the cheerleaders having performed and standing at the race, and the crowd waiting with nothing happening.

The move of the Reserves time was in response to the move from 2pm to 2.10pm for the League. Maybe it's not the thread to pose the question I did, but I wanted to know what the reason is for changing the times again.

We've had (and now will have):

2006:
Reserves: 11.35am
League: 2.20pm
2007-09:
Reserves: 11.15am
League: 2.00pm
2010:
Reserves: 11.25am
League: 2.10pm

Surely the reason for changing the start time of the reserves is, as mentioned, to reduce the length of time in between the end of the ressies and the start league to a realistic gap.

Probably to bring it in line with the AFL, their "normal" start time for an afternoon game is 14:10 EST (13:40 CST). It's another AFL conspiracy to ovetake our competition I tells ya.... ;) ;)

The 18s will have it so much better.

Instead of starting at 8.30, they can now start at the much more respectful time of 8.40.

That whole 10 minutes can make a huge difference. ;)

At least the TV match (and SANFL scoreboard on their site  ) will be live and not 10 minutes behind.

I don't think so ... League start times won't change but good wishful thinking anyway!
