Eagles Finals Chances

Postby eaglehaslanded » Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:10 pm

After a season on the sidelines of September action the Eagles are back.

Will the Eagles swoop on finals success - a possible grand final ?

With the possible returns of Broadbent, Salter, Stewart and Shirley and Powell and Treeby sure to get better and better with each game can the Eagles be a force to be reckoned with this September.

Are supporters of the finalists concerned about the Eagles presence in the 2009 finals series.

there is a big gap between the top 3 & the next two & therefore either wwt or north could not sustain the effort for 4 weeks...both wont get past the first semi final

As an Eagles fan I hope it will all be right on the night.

At their best the Eagles have beaten North (2x), Glenelg & Central.

At their worst they lost to Norwood and West and suffered 2 big losses to Sturt.

Its been an unsettled year, will be the best 21 come together and make it work?

I hope so but on form getting past the first semi final would be a surprise.

agree with both of those answers.
Eagles would need to go 4-0 in the finals campaign, and I can't see that happening.

If the Dogs don't knock Sturt off on Sunday and have to front the Eags the week after I am sure they will be taking nothing for granted.

Although as they say - "let's take it one week at a time.."
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Hard to see the eagles getting past the 1st semi. Will have a tough game against North in the elimination final before they even get the chance to see a semi though. Top 3 just seem a fair way ahead of the rest IMHO. Of course, this is footy and anything can happen on the day of course.

I wouldn't under estimate the eagles. I wouldn't want the dogs to be playing them after this week.

Interesting very interesting .I understand from my memory bank that norwood came from the elimination final once to win the flag.So it is hard but not impossible .
Eagles had won four in a row before losing to Glenelg .The loss the club needed to bring the team back to earth before heading into a final series .Plus the Eagles had a bye last week so they should be fresh .
IF (that's a large word in footy) the Eagles win against North look out the other teams.
It doesn't matter who won what game in the home and away series its finial's footy .
Every game style game plan doesn't matter its the team on the day that takes it chances .The team that goes in and gets the footy .The team that shuts down every opposition player .And the team that plays like a team not as individuals. And most important the team that kicks the highest score that wins.
As a fan who has had to sit through losing grand finals to Centrals year after year i know it all to well.

NEVER EVER SAY ANY SIDE CAN'T WIN.
Because any of the five sides that make it to the GF could win it .

Just Mickyj's Finals thoughts ;)

while the Eagles struggle against the running game they seem to like playing hard in and under against centrals.go figure

Of course the running style of game has to be proven on a big oval .
And in one team if its raining will they go to sleep ?

Who knows I dont have a clue ;)

So did Port in 1998. There's always a chance, but not likely.

Personally I think by announcing his "retirement" publicly instead of in house like in 06 (it was reported by word of mouth he did that so I'm not 100 % certain) and as early as he did . Has lead in part to an Eagles revival part way through a season that was going the way of 08.
I'm not saying the Eagles will go all the way but you never know . ;)
And Eagles versus dogs on the big stage is generally a very good game.
Eagles like playing their "Traditional Rivals" to get some pay back for lost GF's .
Cards fall right Dog_ger you may very well be playing Eagles in the GF.Or before ;)
Ducks every other clubs fans ;)

Bock would help this week. He deserves the promotion to our side, given his form in 08 & 09.

Did I hear rightly? Someone saying the Eagles LIKE playing against centrals? An 8-1 finals record says otherwise my friend.

And of course the eagles are a chance. Win 4 games and there's a flag. Just it's very, very hard to do. 4 good sides fired up and most in decent enough form. Reality says the elimination finalists don't even get to the prelim all that often.
