So after Norwood more than likely blew their season away against West last week, they now face the toughest test in the SANFL, Central at Hamra Homes Oval.

The Dogs, riddled with injury concerns and not in full form, did enough to get the points over the Panthers down at Noarlunga and would have to go into this game as favourites.

The Dogs will hopefully be boostered by the return of their co-captain Paul Thomas...

CENTRAL District co-captain Paul Thomas will wear a Rugby Union-style protective glove he bought off E-Bay from the UK when he returns to football as early as this weekend.

The Magarey Medallist has missed the past six weeks with a broken finger and has gone to great lengths to ensure his recovery time is as short as possible.

Providing he gets the all clear from the hand specialist this week, Thomas will strap two fingers on his left hand and wear the fingerless protective glove with velcro straps against the Redlegs.

``I’ve got to give myself the best amount of confidence to go to the specialist and say `this is how it feels’,’’ Thomas said.

``Because I want to play against Norwood.’’

Thomas trialled a two-finger glove made from wetsuit material and an AFL-style full fingered glove at training in recent weeks.

But he decided both were not suitable and brough the fingerless glove from E-Bay for $40.

``I did ball work on Wednesday night for the first time,’’ he said.

``And I went at the ball and had heaps of confidence.’’

That's OK ... every time I drive down Port Rd I look at the chimney upside down.

FWIW, I'd support the Doggies (or anyone else) before the Redlegs, but that aint ever going to happen anyway.
