A very sorry performance by the Panthers...

Sturt were ruthless with winners in every position.

How can Panthers supporters go into 09 with any hope? Surely they're favourites for next years wooden spoon...

How about Thring's goal tight against the boundary at the bowling club end!

Round 22, 2008
League + Reserves + U19s =

Sturt 77-68 (530)
South 13-17 (95)

Surely this is some kind of record?? Spelly?

p.s. I'm trusting ZZ's maths here...

It would take me a while to do just those three grades, but if you add the other match to it - the Round 11, Under 17 match, which saw Sturt win 12.13 (85) to 9.8 (62), that would be easier to work out.

88.81 (615) to 22.25 (157) - the 615 fails by one point to beat the Sturt/South record aggregate 92.64 (616) was scored in Round 21 1985. But the combined margin 458 points; is a club record, beating the 451 point margin between Sturt and Woodville in Round 7 1984. 117.78 (780) to 46.53 (329).

Being a Sunday match, and non-televised meant I had a rare opportunity to listen in today.
Very satisfying to hear them really finish a side off. It was only two years ago that South did Sturt by over a tonne on the same ground, so the payback was sweet.
Sounds as though we had our form together pretty well today, though we still have some kinks to iron out. Some decision making in front of goal needs some attention, as the commentary team noted a couple of times players blazed away when there were better options.
It also sounds as though South's skills really let them down at times, some promising linking plays were often let down by a bad kick in to the forward lines. It must have sapped their spirit.
Finally, I have never heard a commentary team "barracking" for a player so much as they seemed to be for Chambo today. One of them claimed to have had his running shoes on ready to run out and do an interview after he got the tonne, if he got it. Made me cringe a little bit. Crowd invasion is one thing, but mid-quarter interviews shoud be saved for legends exhibition games.
A coule of players still to come back in, pretty happy tonight!
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

south's performance was very average but McGowan did praise Sampson for the hard work he has done so far and to keep his chin up and things will improve. Sturt were in a similar way a couple of years ago.

If a certain coach and Club didn't part ways, things could be different and the club could have finished in the 5.

In fairness to South Adelaide, they are trying kids and its hard to really gauge a result like that when clay sampson would be trying most of his list to see where its at and who he needs to recruit over the summer

Question to the South's supporters (What are your thoughts on high profile recruit "Ian Prendergast" after 2 seasons down South?????
