Hopefully back on next week against West. I think it was really evident that the boys didnt have the legs coz of the 5 day break. Whoever came up with Port v South
on Saturday against Power/Crows and giving South just 5 days to recover with Port 8 days needs to have a look at themselves. Not good enough and probably cost South 2 points and Magpies thousands in lost revenue due to low crowd. Would have been over 4000 if played on Sunday which should have been. Back to the training track for South. Dont want to pick on any players but a lot are not consistent. Very good one week, ordinary the next.

A few points on your gripe on the scheduling of this match.
Port had 6 days not 8 and played at night
South would have seen the draft fixture and didnt say anything then. They didnt have to host eagles on a Monday either.
Which match should have been scheduled on Sat afternoon? A question those who have complained hasnt answered yet.
I reckon the SANFL should have asked the ABC to televise the Nwd v St match and replayed it on Sat afternoon, and scheduling PA v SA on Sun afternoon.

Well Port aren't holding much of a grudge against North are they?
Common sense? Why? Why should North suffer and get a crowd of 1500 instead? Coz they earn more and they can handle the loss of revenue?
Every club hosts matches in direct competition with Crows home games. It was Port's turn.
The SANFL do enough by scheduling Magpie games away from Power home games.

Sorry Phil, but disagree here. How many of the 1500 dogs fans went to the Showdown? How many North fans went to the showdown? Much more than Magpie supporters as after all it was a Crows HOME match. If it was a Power home game then yes I would agree, but it wasnt.Big Phil wrote:HeartBeatsTrue wrote:Big Phil wrote:I would have though the more logical choice would be to have played North v Central on the Saturday and the Port v South game on the Sunday. Do you know for a fact that North would have got a crowd of 1500, I'd say there would have been 1500 Doggies supporters there alone, regardless of what day it was played, surely North would have 1000 loyal fans that go to the SANFL over the AwFuL?

Everyone knows Doggies supporters don't travel in numbers BP.
For all of their success their crowds aren't ever anything to write home about.

Exactly. I cant see why replaying a Friday night game on Sat afternoon cant happen. I'm certain its happened before where the game at Norwood on Fri night was the televised game. Anyway thats digressing from the match itself. (sort of)Lynwood wrote:Other clubs have had to have games live against a crows or Power home game. The issue that has to be raised is with the agreement with the ABC. The sanfl needs to be sure to add something into it where games can not go against an AFL match at footy park. The idea of a replay of a friday night game is the way to go. It will also help promote night footy even more at the same time.
